even if u weren't getting it for the same price, i would've recommended the 1080P
1080P has a higher resolution, which is quite noticable on large screen TVs (42"+)...not to mention, it's gonna be good for the upcoming "forced" conversion to digital signals - i read somewhere that by the end of the yr, or early next yr, all stations in the US will stop broadcasting in analog...so eventually everything will move towards HD in the next few yrs...and 720P might be cheaper right now, but 1080P will pretty much guarantee that ur TV is going to last u a while, keeping in mind all these changes...who knows whats gonna happen to 780P in 5 yrs time with all these advances in technology...perhaps that will be phased out too, and stations will only be broadcasting in 1080P
