Latest is that the court process has now been delayed. Dr Aafia's defence lawyers say that she refused to come to court to plead not guilty to the charges because she didn't want to be strip-searched, a process that all prisoners go through when moving between federal lockups and courthouses.
The new court appearance is scheduled for September 22nd and the judge has ordered her defence laywers to either persuade her to agree to come to court (and thus be strip searched), or to agree to enter her plea via video camera link from jail.
He's also ordered her defence lawyers to assess whether Dr Aafia is competent to stand trial.
Interestingly enough,
A government official briefed on the case has told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity that the New York landmarks were a "wish list" of potential targets but that there was no evidence of a credible plot..
