I used to go to a little mosque on the prairie . The khutba used to be so boring and so lengthy that it was hard to keep your eyes open during khutba.
Once about the whole congregation was sleeping and the khateeb had to wake all of them up by raising his voice and by asking are we all sleeping and then everybody woke up and felt ashamed.
There are many many good Islamic Scholars and orator , they choose good topics handle them brilliantly and deliver them very eloquently but most just think that they are doing their job , their heart and should will not be in choosing a topic , preparing for it and and then their delivery is very poor too.
Then there are some more of my rants , the schedule is not followed ever , the khutba is prolonged and the namaz is delayed . There is nobody to direct the traffic and take care of the parking arrangements . You come out after namaz to rush back to your office and someone would be blocking your car . They would be taking their time to pray their sunnat and nafil namaz and chit chat with people inside the prayer hall.
How many here relate to my experiences ?
I sent this training course for khatteb to my masjid's committee to hand it over to every khateeb before they prepare a khutba , but I am sorry to say it hardly is followed:
Jumaa Khutba Training
But I will keep trying . You can do so too.Print it or email it to all the khateebs of your masjid.
