Hey guys ...... could anyone offer some advice about making a move to the USA from the UK............which place would u recommend for someone who is totally new to the US who is looking to work .. but also wants to be in a place which allows for contact with a desi community if and when, and is safe and has alll amenities like halal butchers, trains, and highways and so on.......?

...........Boston - the East Coast sounds like a nice place........are there any other areas which offer the above?.....really appreciate it guys...........

Chicago, Washington DC are nice areas which have large paki populations

If you like warmer temperatures then try Houston, Texas, they have a huge Pakistani population

Okay soo
New York City, NY: is like muslim central. You will find halal places very easily, but besides that there are lots and lots of halal restaurants. As long as your living in the city you don't need a car, from Queens to Manhattan to brooklyn and so on. Living expances are out of this world. Unless you have a really high paying job or saved lots of money you will not be able to buy a house IN the city but you'll have to go out about an hour of so. In the city you'll most likely get an apt whick will not be less then $1,500 a month not including bills. There are never ending places to go to and entertain youself for the rest of your life. Its a very colorfull city when it comes to the type of people that live there. You will have no problem finding muslims and so on. Also the ocean is right there next to the city. But don't forget, its huge, and you don't really stand out, When I'm there i feel like just a number and i just like smaller city's, but thats different from person to person.

Pittsburgh, PA: This is much much smaller then NY, but you will find great job here and good places to live not too far from downtown of even inside the city. The city part of it(downtown) it small but has great places to hang out. There are great colleges here also. But most of it is subarbian. You will find great home and most likly unless you want too you will not have to live in an APt. There are lots of smaller towns around pittsburgh but the best is Monroeville (overall with school district, shopping, food) In Pittsburgh there are two places where you can get halal meat from, one is this Arab guy his shop is close to the city and the other is for restaurant's so you have to have a ID to go in and they have halal meat for cheap. There is a pretty big Muslim community here too. like for Eid about 3000 people come but in total there are about 10000 or 11000. OR more. But I must say NY's muslim community is much better. Its gets really really cold here and snows like crazzy(which i love).

Washington, DC:can't go into details like the other two but also a great place to be, so you can do some searches on it

Ohh and as far as NY, If you want to buy a house and still be close to the city you will most likly go in LongIsland!! There are houses with good price tags with them. Also keep in mind the rest of NY besides area's closest to the city is like farm and small town. Same with Pittsburgh the further and further you go out people have ranches and farms and stuff

Los Angeles and San hose and San Fransisco has a nice desi community and weather is really nice. But LA is less expensive then SF and better place to live.
