There are a lot of people on here who are successful at what they do ,personally and professionally.
We all want to help in our own ways to improve the image and state of Pakistan whether it is by going back there and contributing or from where we are settled.
There must be ways, no matter how small ,that we can rebuild Pakistan into a nation that is strong and self sufficient.
Share ideas that you feel can be implemented at grass root level !

I'm not talking politics or how the government needs to be changed but more how we individually can make changes within our capacities !

First by making our neighborhood clean.
I see people throwing trash everywhere, First we should not throw trash in any gali or nala and then we can tell our neighbors.Everything starts with a home.

1. The first thing if I could really change is the mentality. The only difference developing nations and poor nations have is their 'Can Do' attitude. So first thing is our personal attitude toward things.
2. Education system: Yea, our raata base educational system is no more practical. People need a nation which can THINK BIG and can critically analyze the situation. Only solving this problem can provide us with better leadership, more innovative work force, less corruption and mature thinking.
3. Natural resource: We need to use them more wisely. It includes our land, minerals, man power, water etc . We are living on day to day bases without any future planning. We need better planning that will impact our future generations.

Pakistanis should stop focusing on trying to implement Islamic law and stop daydreaming over the rise of a khalifa.

Excellent topic Sheyn.
From the replies so far, I can see that there is some confusion between INDIVIDUAL efforts and efforts as a nation COLLECTIVELY. I take you intend to discuss individual efforts here.
Education & awareness brings the most lasting change in any nation's future and it is reflected in every aspect of society. Every resourceful individual can do his bit to improve education system. From contributing for better facilities in schools to financing deserving students in their area, there is penalty to do for individuals.

I no more believe in words. I believe in Actions. Do something for Pakistan or Pakistanis and then post that here. Set an example for others. Then we will see how many of you are really serious in this cause / mission. coz we Pakistanis are very good at delivering speeches, wont feel tired even once if given a chance to talk on issues for hrs n hrs, regardless we have any knowledge on that issue or not. So baaton se kuch nahin hota, kuch amal bhi karo, tab hi halaat badlain ge ....

FT there are some people on these boards who don't just talk. They don't say anything about it because it will kill the purpose. This thread is about raising awareness and giving people ideas that they can start from doing something little which may have a positive impact on someone else life, and may lead to overall improvement collectively.

^ Agree. so give some practical ideas from real life. Somehting that we have done or doing. I am sure the way i see ppl posting here n expressing their thoughts in each section on every topic, everyone should have plenty of ideas already. The need is to act on them now.

Namaan.......Education system and use of natural resources is on a government level.
My aim is starting to work from the roots and up rather than the tried and tested government change kerlo halaath behthet hongai promises that have failed repeatedly !
I think like you said its about changing mentalitiy where every Pakistani is responsible for bettering Pakistan .......we have left it to a group of unworthy people for too long and without results. Its time we started realizing that WE are the CHANGE .......and that its up to us to bring about this CHANGE !

Thanks Xeno .........That is my point........HOW ME and YOU and EACH ONE of US can make changes and implement ideas to improve the current crisis we have fallen into.

FT there are a million ways me and you and every individual can help things. Unfortunately all of us are waiting for someone to take control and tell us what to do.
We have to change that thinking.
It is US who are in Control.
It is US who have to make those changes within our capabilities.
Examples. I as a doctor can start small but I can start by implementing a system of free healthcare and better healthcare to patients that I see. It does not mean everyone should forgo their living or income. There are elite and rich people who can easily afford to pay me for a consultation so if I set aside a feww hours and collaborate lets say with a hospital and tell them to send me their poor patients who can't afford an ultrasound i'll do it for free for them from so and so time in my clinic......... I've helped a few people and not hurt my income and maybe if I do it , someone else might also do it and we start a chain reaction. THis is just a simple closer to home example.
Similarly lets say a teacher provides tuition to a few children without charging it will help educate a child.
Once we start maknig it part of a curriculum we start spreading the message more and more get involved.
My Plans , Inshallah , is to go back home once im done with my exams here and set up an Organization to help women and children displaced from Swat to start with and teach them basic skills like stitching for example so they can earn a decent living rather then them beggging on the streets. Provide the children with basic education and teach them skills to get them off the streets.
I have to start small but if I am commited I think I can increase that to a level where more people can get involved , inshallah.
Maybe it sounds unrealistic right now or too idealistic but the idea is that its a start .....the rest falls into place !
Similarly you or anyone of us can think of how we can start improving things around us.
