The shalwar doesn't make you feel bloated after a big meal, unlike trousers do. It must be awesome from women, they can wear khameez shalwars at most events.

Shalwar-kamiz make fat people look less fat and skinny people look less skinny. So comfortable you feel guilty sometimes!

solution to this dilemma, expanding waistband trousers.
that may lead to other problems like becoming a social outcast
but atleast no regrets after downinf some chargha and nihari
although they do make trousers with tabs which can be loosened or tightened, its a relic of the past or available on bespoke stuff, which can be another solution.

I have seen some larger gentlemen sporting those expanding waistband trousers. They look like something kids wear.

At least you ladies don't have to wear a belt. Belt just adds to the bloated feeling.

thats why i said, the likely risks are of being a social outcast.
oh i forgot, the best of both worlds, there are drawstring pants as well, now mostly these are casual linen types, and the drawstring is in place of a belt but the waistband is structured so the drawstring does not give you substantially more room.
you can always do what Joey did for thanksgiving in friends.
