I am talking about here in USA
I was listening to this popular song on the radio, from Britney Spears called 3, its a catchy beat etc so ofcourse let my kids listen to it too..but today I found out what the song is about..a threesome
Now My question is the radio is for general population and I would assume a G rating overall. But some say
What are your views on that?
Personally I think it should be controlled, as listening to threesome songs on regular radio station feels as if it normalizes the behavior. Most about everything is sex crazed these days.Where is the line drawn?
Who Draws the line?
Is it all the parents responsibility and not the over all society and Government?
The most wasted of all days is one without laughter. ~e.e. cummings

Ask99 I know you are refering to Lyrics of songs and that they may have implied meanings....
but basically the lyrics convey a message to the public at large..........
However in a free society all brimming with Democracy and freedom of speech...............
When The Leadership makes a statement to the whole World saying................
You are either with us or against us!................
is that not a way to squelch free speech?
Censorship by decree?
For life and death are one, and only those who will consider the experience as one may come to understand or comprehend what peace indeed means.

Yes I think in order to protect free speech, we need to do some self-censorship. The gov't has indeed been getting more involved in the past years by putting ratings on music similar to the way that movies are rated. If you disapprove, then dont listen to it, dont tune in to those stations and express your displeasure to stores and radio stations that play it. But to have the gov't begin censorship would mean taking away that freedom of free speech.

I think that is the difference between living in an Islamic society i.e. and Non-Islamic i.e. America . We cannot enforce an ethical behavior which is for others is just normal . For example same sex marriage . It is not fine for majority of people so you cannot legislate it . But on the other hand people do live together and exercise their relationship . So I would say that unless there is not public opinion regarding an issue , its hard to legislate it .
I would suggest to be vigilant and try to keep yourself safe .

If you couldn't figure out what the song was about...what makes you think your kids could figure out that she is singing about a threesome?

Kids between 4 to 8 or 9 years old usually don't understand much hidden meanings. So don't worry about it but on the other hand you can always try to avoid these things because when your girls are gonna grow up they will know the meanings.
As M2K said at the young age they will not be able to understand it.
