    www.eat-halal.com

(June 9, 2001) Burger King has informed eat-halal.com that their fries in Canada are now cooked in oil that is not used for frying any animal products. Previously, the fries were cooked in oil that was shared with other meat products. The fries do not contain any animal ingredients and are therefore halal. On the other hand, Wendy's has informed us that their fries may be cooked in same oil as Chicken Nuggets. For this reason, Wendy's fries should be avoided.

Thanx for the info. Do you know, if that's valid for North America only or does it include Europe as well?

Did Burger King ever admit that their buns (burgers) have lard in it?

I'd just avoid fast food than worry about what's in my food.

Mad, I don't think it is a problem in UK, but for US, an advisory was floated two years back that BK is putting lard in its bun to retain freshness.. and hence no burger from BK is halaal... this includes BK Fish. We don't have Vegetarian burger in US, but even if there is... with lard in the bun, it will still be haraam.... unless u can just eat the vegetable part and leave the bun alone....

i know for a fact that the Macdonald fries and fish fillet sandwich/burger has been confirmed as halal.

one of my relatives is the president of the Halal Food Authority based in UK and working all over Europe with manufacturers.

Kellogs corn flakes (and a lot of other cereals from them) have been confirmed as halal and carry the symbol on their boxes.

Burger king has not yet approached the HFA for approval of their products... but i assume they will in the near future.

I am not sure whether Burger King uses lard in UK.. most of the bread baked here uses vegetable shortening..
