does anyone ever use effnet , dalnet etc? I learnt how to type on mschat when there was one pakistan room. Soon the chat went away and I moved over to gupshup. Dalnet and the rest never really did it for me... too many people and too easy to get flamed. I wonder whatever happened to the mschat program. it was pretty neat with all the wierd icons you had.

The current top 4 irc networks based on the # of users and # oc channels is as follows. Dalnet tops the list.

network users channels

1. DALnet 94055 37577
2. IRCnet 91378 46399
3. EFnet 78091 33976
4. Undernet 71323 3809

EFnet or Eris Free Net is the original and longest surviving networks of all. The main reason its not #1 is mainly due to Khalid Mardam Bay's mIRC. mIRC lists dalnet and undernet servers as defaults and thus new users automatically join those two nets.
Maybe Khalid dude is biased towards dalnet and undernet, who knows

Channel #pakistan on dalnet is now the biggest. But yah, efnet #pakistan and undernet #pakistan do exist as well. Dalnet attracts a lot of spammers and annoying "asl'ers".
While Efnet remains a "jungle" - only the strongest survive

Ive been coming to IRC for a long time, since 1996... The most popular pak channel on dalnet has to be #pakistan but then again, its grown so much and no longer enjoyable...

#chickspot -> Islamabad alevel students mostly, from beaconhouse, froebels, altavista etc... I knew the founders, they were from alta-vista Its grown pretty big too...
