try Warcraft or World Of Warcraft, Dungeon Siege I and II, Diablo II > that's a oldschool game, it's great...I'm lovin' it...haven't played it for years...I think this should be enough, I need to install this game again...this game is seductive if you don't care about the graphics, the story is perfect, for that time the cutscenes are great! buy it...you should get it for 10-20 $...
I've seen advertisment in Splinter Cell, NHL 2K8, PES 2008, Max Payne I & II...

Just some games from the top of my head:
- Tekken
- Command & Conquer
- Fifa-game series
- Pro Evolution Soccer series
- Formula 1 games
- soon available Red Alert3
also have a look at gamereplays.org, where numerous games for online play are discussed in various communities/forums

I'd say pretty much any game has a community somewhere. You could find them on sites like ign, gamespot, gamefaqs to name a few. In some cases the developers/publishers themselves host their own community sites (usually a forum dedicated to a particular game or series).

If I remember correctly in Splinter Cell they made a advertisement for another game of Ubisoft, in NHL 2K8 they made commercial for CCM Hockey Sticks, DODGE NITRO, DURACELL, GILLETTE > The commentator used to say "The Powerplay is presented to you by GILLETTE FUSION"... love this, this is so authentic...
I think Max Payne did a advertisment for MAFIA...I'm not sure, though.

Thanks guys
By community I did not mean if there was a bulletinbosrd for some game elsewhere but more like secondlife type thing btw second life is not even close to the leader in these virtual worlds
I am looking for games which have many users connected online with avatars and identities etc
This has been helpful though

As numb already mentioned, there is World or Warcraft, which is probably the most popular.
Some console online RPGs that I know of are Final Fantasy XI and Phantasy Star Universe. I don't know how many people still play them though.
