I played MYST back in the mid nineties, I think it came with my CD-ROM drive... Brilliant stuff.
The game I enjoyed the most was 'Day of the Tentacle', it was hilarious and most importantly, fun!
ahh, i downloaded Day of the Tentacle after playing Psychonauts a while back, i think i need to get on and play it! loved Grim Fandango too.
oh and Portal was last year's gem!
when i was a kid, probably Super Mario World although Street Fighter 2 was a close second and i still love them.
otherwise i think Zelda Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye and Final Fantasy 7 come in the top 10 too.
i always thought nothing would beat my love for Ocarina of Time but i think Deus Ex was probably my best gaming experience. i still play it through every year or so.
Golden Eye was and IS GREAT. It's fun and I have crucial games with my cousin everytime when we play...
Deus Ex? I thought I'm the only one who played this game here @GS
You brought back some memories. This game and it's option to get to your goal. What do you do? Are you silent or do you want to bang your way thru? Every action of you had a good or bad end. This game is Goldie.

OLD IS GOLD
yeaaa. goldeneye and half-life played a huge part in changing the fps genre but Deus Ex had its own role too. you really can choose how you play it- with stealth or just blasting your way through, just following the main dialogue or reading every email, newspaper, book. such a well researched and deep game for its time. it's amazing how much vision warren spector had for the way the world go. you read some of the newspaper snippets and it's exactly like post 9-11 stuff (obv more extreme tho). and excerpts of 'The Man who was Thursday'. the nanotechnology stuff was really well done too (speaking from someone who works in the field).
too bad they dumbed everything down for Deus Ex 2.
unfortunately not for HL2. it came out when i was having really bad RSI problems (most likely bought on from years of counterstrike, diablo 2 etc), i couldn't use the mouse for too long at all. never got around to it after that. played Portal from the Orange Box though, it's a really fun game, had the same writer as Psychonauts which is also really funny.
i don't know a lot of these newer games just don't attract me that much either. like Bioshock, initially i really wanted to play it but then the excitement died off and it's System Shock 2 that i actually want to complete (still haven't.. it's going slowly).
play deus ex again though! that screenshot is my own, i looked through the folder of screenshots i took to get it and aaaahhh memoriessss.
