depending on the kind of embroidery and the type of cloth u r using, cud be from around Rs 10 000 to Rs 30 000 ( that too if u know the ins and outs of karachi bazaar). mine was made for around Rs 50 000. you can also have it made for less if u know the taylor ( the power of bargaining) or the khandani embroiderer
p.s: daal mein kuch kala zaroor hai

oh the fabric was called "kataan" kamkhawab ki tarah hota hai. u can get it at porcia i think.. but its wayyyyy expensive there. we bought it from this guy in sadar. he actually makes that material in his own factory and sell it to porcia and other expensive places. we buy lots of clothes from him so he gave us a good price.

it really depends where u get the wedding lehnga from..it could be done in as less as below 10,000 and could go all the way to 2 lakhs or even more.
like if u get the cloth from somewhere in hyderi or bohri bazar as opposed to clifton or tariq road u'll get it much cheaper. then if u get the emroidery done from these areas then thats also cheaper.
these days the in thing is to just go and get ur whole outfit done by a designer.
the designers obviously charge a huge lot coz of their name. plus u can be at ease if u order it thru them, they take care of everything u jus have to go and choose the design. they also do the matching chappal and purse and imam zamin and everything. there are several good designers in karachi or u cud get it done from a designer in lahore as well. u'll find several threads in bazar and life forum abt the top deisgners and so on.
hardly anyone does things from absolute scratch coz imagine how much effort that would take. the fabric, the design, the embroidery etc. u dont wana take a risk with ur wedding outfit either if something goes wrong in the middle then the whole outfit is messed up and u dont have time either then.
my friend who got married recently got her's designed from a top designer. the stones that were studded in the lehnga were real stones as well. her outfit was stunning mashallah. the cost of everything was near a lakh (100,000) i think.
the fabric can be any ranging from silk to tissue to organza to net (thin cloths go with stitched lining below them)
my frien'd lehnga was silk (katan is that khaRa khaRa type of silk, the fine silk, not typical resham) with velvet patches in the embroidery. the dupatta was a heavy net. but the fabric totally depends on u. anything except the non fancy ones like cotton and linen etc go. so any of those shiny fabrics.

khawateen -- mine had very delicate, light embroidery (you can see in images 3). i don't know the exact price, but it was $1000+. my ma-in-law did it from scratch, selecting all the fabric and giving it to the designer for the kaam and stitching etc.

Mrs. kazmis work is exquisite, but for bridals you will be told to keep a starting budget of 1.5 lac in mind... yups that is right, its definitely for the connisures of authentic bridals.
