what kind of stuff do they sell in anarkali?

U can call anarkali one stop shopping
You can get bridal dresses, jahez stuff, stock up on artificial jewelry/churiyan, purses/bags and shoes.. For ready made semi casual outfits, u can just go to Pace and get some very nice suits for 650, many have full sleeves as well.. fortress has very fancy readymade/stitched stuff, which mgiht be xpensive, but more conveneint since ur crunched for time
Comin bak to anarkali, most of the outfits already have hte kaam done on em, u jus gotta give it to a darzi to have it sewn.. u can also get shoes, fancy purses, and stock up on artificial jewelry/churiyan from there as well.. there may very well be lots of jewelers in anarkali as well but im not too sure.. for gold jewelry, best bet wud be to go to Liberty, lots of nice stuff there..
I cant really tell you what's "in" , as whatever style suits you u can find it there, short kameezes/dhoti salwars, lamba kurtas, strait salwars etc.. same as for what colors are appropriate for wedding.. again, whatever u want

Chameli don't you have relatives in Lahore who could adivse you as well? Yes I'm in Lahore right now. I'm sorry< i dunno what zaari/zardosi/kundan kaam is
I know, most lenghas ive seen, they use motis (beads), sequins and small stones i think, as well as dabka, (i hate dabka)..

Hi:
Yes anarkali has all the stuff for brides but to be honest the quality isn't good...i mean really not good...best place for shopping would be liberty for lehnga i.e. ready to wear only...also cavalary for fabric..i believe for bridal dress or formal wear fabrics cavalary's al-fajar is the best in liberty muqadas and also bareeze and onr opposite to muqadas is good i forgot its name. For jewllery Ruby Jewellerson mall are best plus moti wala jellwer in liberty. There are more i'l updat eu for now these are the names i remeber. These are the best for bridal shoppings..
All the Best....

^ i went to ruby jewellers.. the older man there is so damn rude!
theres are a few good jewellers in liberty as well...try out waseem jewellers... they have soooo much variety.. they're a bit pricey though but what the heck.. check out their designer stuff... u have to ask them for it, otherwise they wont show u...
as for fabric..u can check out new orega and the old orega bazaar.. awesome stuff there...
Zardozi, Ali's, Saleem Fabrics are also good places to check out wedding lenghas at... infact Ali's has beautiful finish.. like their kaam is really nice... in comparison to Zardozi, i liked this work better...happy happy happy... happy happy happy

^ Thanks, i'm going to Pakistan next week so that helps...
All i know so far is that Liberty has nice shoes, Calvary has good fabric and Anarkali is good for other little stuff...so good luck Chameli420, i know it must be getting hectic

thanks a lot girls

I guess I will go to Liberty for the lehnga then. waseem jewellers are in Liberty as well so I'll just do it in one go. the rest I can look for in anarkali and orrega..
anyone know a GOOD darzi there???
- Mar 27th, 2006, 05:12 AM #13
^ I dunno any real great darzi, but i can make one suggestion, DO NOT go to the mohallawala darzis/darzans.. they're good for making casual stuff to wear at home, but I wouldn't trust em with fancy, silks n stuff
Not to mention, jus stay away from darzis, period :yukh:

Nowadays, even the ready made bridal lehngas comes with all the modern types of kaam you want. You just have to go to the shop and tell them what you want. Between Liberty and Anarkali, I'm more pro-Liberty, but my aunt bought a ready made bridal lehnga for her daughter-in-law from Anarkali, and it was gorgeous. Looked totally designer.

Chameli: one tip for you. When you turn in your clothes to get sewn, get one dress made first and try it on. And only when you try it on and like it, then turn in other stuff for sewing. God forbid if its not a good darzi u might get ur stuff messed up. Try to go to an organized darzi as well. Make sure they note down all the instructions you give them. I used 2 different darzis for my shadi stuff. One made everything almost the way i asked him to, he would also write out everything i asked to get done and tie to the fabric. The other one lost 2 shirts, and made shalwar for my mehandi outfit when i asked for a chooridar. He sure wasnt writing everything down.
Also, i got my lehanga from anarkali but i suggest trying liberty first. I also got some real nice shoes at liberty. For things such choorian, other shoes, handbags etc, anarkali is good.I love children and old people. Its everyone in between I can't stand - Don Imus
