You got a pretty broad price range Hinna. You should be able to find some good stuff. Canon and Sony are good brands. Dont go with over slim cameras .. they are good to look at but dont give good picture ..

dont care too much about the digital zoom, look for cameras with good optical zoom.

i love canon cameras. this is the one i have right now

Canon PowerShot A720 IS Digital camera reviews - CNET Reviews

it's definitely in your budget. along with the things that TLK mentioned, a great feature to keep in mind is image stabilization, to reduce the blurryness when you take pictures. i've also heard that while canon's other thin cameras are good, the picture quality doesn't compare to normal sized cameras. IMO you can't go wrong with canons.

sony's are also good, but tend to be a bit pricier. and they really want you to stick with sony's accessories, like memory stick and battery packs. also for some reason the picture size is small if you've selected smaller pixel size. i find it very annoying. i've seen nikons, and their regular point and shoot camera (coolpix) pic's quality isn't that great when compared to sony and canon.
