In the store, the Samsung actually seemed better in terms of quality and reception. But a lot of ppl are saying go with Sony. This is confusing. *smack*

Samsung is the number in LCDs, They produce awesome quality TVs, they out do sonys by a mile. Sony is way behind in technology, and they are over priced. Samsung is the way to go!

Samsung is always made in Korea - not the top but very good quality control, consistent and technology. Sony is made all over world where labour is cheap to compete the price, quality control is generally poor. If you find Sony made in Japan, then go for it - but it would be dearer than Samsung.

I have a Samsung plasma and love it. Its got great picture quality, was less expensive and has a better overall look than Sony. Looking at expert reviews, their LCDs seems to rank pritty high up as well.

I think we are going to back and look at them again. Thanks for the comments. *smile*
sky, the two we are considering are both relatively the same price. Sony plasma is out of the question for us, so its going to come down to whichover one has the better quality picture and refresh rate in the showroom.

Sony actually sources LCD screens from Samsung. (There are rumour that Sony might move to SHARP LCD screens.)
However, Sony signal processing is more advanced than Samsung. Samsung mostly ranks high because of its value (price/feature ratio) and not because of its very high quality imagery. Sony Bravia X Series is considered best in its class.

Sony's reputation for great pictures is true. they cost more but it's worth the extra bucks.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

We went with the Samsung! It just had better picture quality than the Sony (atleast in the store). There was no significant price difference between the two in the size we bought. The different people spoken to at the different stores preferred Samsung over Sony in what we were looking for. We also read reviews online and took those things into consideration.
Thanks for the replies. *smile*
