Is it legal in Pakistan to make copies....I mean don't they have copyrights in place?

Hi there, only because you say its a copy i have to say its no where near the original. My friend owns the original. It has much more work on it.
Since you say its on a budget,The work i think should cost no more than 3000. The fabric in the original is jamavar chiffaun and this one is a cheap alternative.

^ i know, as i said it sure is on a budget but in that too it shouldnt cost so much - 240$ is wayy too much for this dress -
but it depends on every one's margins.

I understand you're selling aswell? For future orders if you can get this made for me in rs3000 the exact way, with beads, cut pipes and sequins so full that the fabric underneath doesnt show (in the sleeve and neck area) and get me better fabric I'd really really appreciate it, can I have your contact info?

I'm disappointed as I was hoping to get your help with karma "originals". Which market do you get your clothes made from? I have 29 karegars working for me in my karkhana but I'm thinking I should try your market so do PM me the name of the shop/karegar and thanks for the input, I really really appreciate it.. I'm gonna take some time out soon to view your work and share my observation.
Regards,

Not impressed with the neatness of embroidery. I think the chinyere karegar should know better. I think your work looks ok but you seem new in the business, my suggestion would be start paying more attention on teh neatness of your embellishments as that's what matters most. Your rates are probably lower due to that reason. No offence.
I get my fabrics on ok rates, as far as karegars are concerned I have 29 of them working under one roof so I dont think that's an issue either as I dont get my work done from markets. The only reason I'm guessing for my rates being high are cause my karegars are highly trained.

I am new - but civil enough to take 'justified' criticism,
yes its not a business for me, its just about helping people get what they want, i own several designer jodas and that is where i take my tips from - about quality, and work. but thank you for you concern. I do hope you put a little more effort into the design aspect with your highly trained karighars

Hey .. I'm all for taking justified criticism .. it's just strange when it comes from a less than perfect vendor/designer! Was it my criticism that ticked you off? I'm sorry!

It is not illegal to make copies anywhere in the world. It is illegal to make copies of copyrighted stuff though.

It is highly inappropriate to criticize a designer/vendor when you're in the same line of work and when there is always room for improvement, I myself look at dresses designed/copied by me in the past and realize I could ve done/ can do a much better job now. The whole idea of this thread was to take suggestions from fellow guppies on wether they like teh copies or wether they would like to change something in them. However there is a fine line between criticism and insulting. I'm open to criticism/suggestions as long as it isnt coming vendors/designers. The most old school way of trying to grow/promote ones business is by judging/criticising others, we really need to learn to take pride in our work, be confident that we're doing good and will do better in the future in a dignified way. How hard is it to ignore something you dont like? I think it's pretty easy .. just click the back button or the link under the quick reply box .. you dont always have to leave a mark.
Thank you Saadia and malta!
