A bohemian enclave
thicker than blood

Usually it is a matter of time before an aunty (or occasionally an uncle) would make a comment about how Misbah should have a brother or a sister. While it is annoying at times, it is understandable and I don't question their intentions. I agree with their concerns and acknowledge that having a sibling does changes personality, it gives kids a perspective that the only kid do not have. There are other benefits of having a sibling when she does gets older etc.
But I think it is also equally, if not more, important to have and strive to provide her with spiritual siblings. People she can call brothers and sisters who enhance her spiritual prospectives, help her grow her spiritual senses, give her the insight into life that she might not otherwise see. It will be great if the physical siblings are also brothers/sisters of faith but sometimes age and gender differences make that difficult to be in the same state of mind. As I reflect on it, I think I was blessed way more than I deserved with such spiritual siblings, who prayed for and with me, who covered my incompetencies (sp?) and were/are patient with my spiritual illnesses. And I consider them a very important part of who I am and what I have become. And whenever I get a chance, I often pray more that may Allah give Misbah such spiritual siblings that encourage her towards spiritual heights and stand by her shoulder to shoulder through this short journey we call human life. Yes, I do believe that their is a bond, which is much thicker than blood!
