For now I am in love!

It has been couple of beautiful days here. Down here we have good 9 months of summer and the remaining 3 are somehow categorized between spring and fall. Our winters are probably like mild fall for the rest of the country and our springs blow by too fast. Today the streets seemed to have more breathing room probably because it is the back to school week meaning less reckless teen drivers on the roads. I took extra slow to get to where I needed to go, soaking in the extra bright green of the trees and grass and extra bright blue of the sky. There wasnt even a white streak of a jet up in the sky today to ruin its beauty. The stucco of the neighborhood houses seems to be fresher, like someone redid it overnight. I dont know how long this weather will last but I am enjoying it for now.
I take pride in the fact that once the young drivers are back in school the rest of the driving community is very courteous in my small town. The moment you turn your indicator on the others go out of their way to let you pass or change lanes. Getting a wave and a smile in thanks for giving us the right of way. A lady driving no matter how old and fugly she may be will always get right of way. Our southern gentlemen take pride in treating the ladies like queens. No man will let a woman open a door if he can help it. I myself have had grandpas, the ones holding canes and can hardly walk open doors for me and wont take no for an answer. I lived in Houston for sometime but never felt this cherished there. Driving there is like jan jokhoon ka kam. People honking and giving finger to other drivers every opportunity they get. I dont know how it is in other parts of the country. For now the weather is great, I am spoiled by the southern lifestyle and have once again fallen in love with my little town, a diamond in the rough.
