Life as it Happens
Iftar
Tonight I asked bhai what he wanted to do for Iftar because my family was invited to an Iftar dinner at one of the neighbors place. He mentioned that we might go to a restaurant in Detroit instead because there was apparently a free Iftar there. Detroit is really far from us but bhai decided he was willing to make the drive for the Iftar since he liked the food at that restaurant.
We drove there and then ordered some additional food to take home with us, apart from the Iftar food. There was a somewhat lavish buffet and I asked bhai to ask if it the ifter was really free. I was finding it hard to believe but bhai said it was so we went up and got the food. I got the lamb with rice, some salad, hummus and one or two other items. It was nice.
Then bhai got the bill since he is the one who had made the orders for the take away food. Ammi looked at his face and got worried and asked him, "How much?" The bill was HUGE. They charged for the iftari dinner. I just shook my head because I had told bhai to ask them ahead of time. My parents offered to pay for half of it but bhai said he'll just suck it up and pay the whole bill. During the car ride home he was complaining about the bill and we were all cracking up because the way he was complaining was just sooo funny.
Then I hiccuped really loud and everyone started laughing.
We then went to a famous arab dessert place and we all had ice cream. Bhai said he wanted to drown his sorrow in some dessert. I had vanilla ice cream. *sigh*
When we got home we realized that the dish Ammi ordered was not included. *smack*
It's soooo hardddddd to keep control of your diet when you are eating out.
This week my family is going on vacation and I will be home alone for a few days. Tres boring. I dont know what I am going to do to keep myself entertained.
