What is a friend?

Ive been contemplating this word "Friend" a lot. Im starting to wonder what people I consider friends really are friends. Some of these people have been great to me, in so many ways, and for that I am very grateful. Some of them have, what I have just recently realized, questionable morals and approaches to life. Some of these friends are not the friends I thought they were, or the friends I thought they were going to be. I guess thats part of life and something Ill have to deal with, but its still extremely disappointing.
