Only a Shaheen is the True Picture of Iqbal's Poetry
Tipu Sultan - A Lesson!
Posted Dec 19th, 2007 at 08:24 PM by Shaheen
The title of this poem is about Tipu Sultan and Allama Iqbal talks about his universally famous subject of Khudi or Self Respect ... He talks about how Tipu Sultan Shaheed never accepted the respect given to him by the outsiders - the Britishers... and how he fought against the injustice in his land. He denied the favours given to him because they were compromising his SELF RESPECT and were the attack on his Khudi. Another important lesson for us, how respect is relevent- something to learn for sure

i was at Tipu Sultan's mazaar just 2 days ago. he was betrayed by his brother-in-law. and when he fell, even the british who ambushed him said in awe - the tiger has fallen. he was a real hero... and beloved by his subjects. the guide told me that his descendant now lives in Kolkata and makes his living as a rickshaw wallah. talk about riches to rags...Posted Dec 20th, 2007 at 08:10 AM by ~Namkeen~
