Hi all

Can anyone tell me is it easy to open up a forieng currency account in pakistan, specifically a pound sterlling account? Also how much in general do banks in pakistan charge over a transfer from UK to pakistan?

I will be working for a uk based company from pakistan. However my salary is currently paid in a UK bank and I am going to ask them to send it directly to my foriegn currency account in pakistan once I open it. Natwest charges £20 for a transfer from uk to pakistan. I am guessing around the same amount charged from pakistani side as well?

I could possibly have my company keep my salary as it is, but I do the transfer online to my pakistani account, but that would be a problem tax wise i think? which is why i think it would be better to have them directly pay into my pakistani foriegn currency account....

Any suggestions?

Zeshu, I use Moneybookers.com Just register there and ask your company to deposit at your moneybookers account every month (thats local UK). then transfer from moneybookers account to your pakistan bank. its very cheap and direct credit. Moneybookers is just like a bank connected to real time transfer system. No intermediary bank is involved. I always use it. when u enter all your bank accounts information at moneybookers by entering the SWIFT code, it detects bank name automatically. u only have to enter account number. thats it...good system.

mustana zeshu still need an account in Pakistan.

Zeshu, you can open pound sterling account in Pakistan in almost every bank. with i guess minimum £100 balance in few banks.

direct bank to bank transfer fee from here is around £17 for amounts upto £10000

as in Pakistan now they have RBS and Barclays everywhere, money from natwest and barclays will be in account in 3-5 days time.

pound to pound transfer is good as you get good rates in open market and plust your money can grow in value as the rupee deprtiates on daily basis.
