I want to send some diamond jewelery as a wedding gift to someone in Karachi. The only way I know is a registered mail maybe. Will the package be safe & not reach the recipient empty?

I have heard that people over there sometimes open up packages or mails & keep the stuff.

Just want to make sure that she gets it but don't want to spend unnecessary amount of extra money on postage either.

Not sure if this post is under the right section. Mods can move it if they want.

What's posting & insurance act? I was thinking about getting the mail registered & getting insurance on it.

Is that what you mean?

I am sure you can send it through DHL. Just insure it. Never send it through regular post office mail.

DHL. Hmmm. They charge a lot for international shippings. But that sounds better.

TLK Bhai do you think if I actually write what's in there in the description then there is a chance someone might become "laalchee" if you know what I mean & jack it.

For insurance purposes I'll have to write what's in there but I am just a bit concerned about the package grabbing extra attention.

No BN, its not about you writing anything. There are crooks working in Pakistani Post Offices and they almost open all the international packages and stealing is very common there.

Oho wow. So DHL will be safe then but not the regular postal service? What if the DHL guys open it too then?

Or sending it through mail is just not safe at all?

If you can avoid sending through mail all together then its better. But DHL is an international company so there insurance would cover you from your door in USA to your door in Pakistan. Post office insurance will cover you only till they hand your package over to another country's post office authority (at least that is what I think)

check with your local post office. If they cover you till your door in pakistan, then you can use that.

I don't have any other option other than mailing right now. Don't know anyone who will be going to Khi anytime soon.

A lady once in usps told me that they are only responsible till the mail/package gets to country. so I guess DHL it is then.

Thank you.
