Appreciate your concern. Done 5 years with Big 4. ACA, ACCA, CIA and QSMSA, been there done that Still I find it a bit surprising that you haven't even started your CPA yet and have a job lined up in a big4.

what are all those abbreviations for? To my knowledge the big 4 are pwc, kpmg, e&y, and deloitte. Atleast on earth they are. I interviewed with one of them over a yr ago and kept postponing the start date due to my graduation being delayed and thank god they haven't rescinded their offer
They are also paying for my CPA classes and exams. Yay!

You are indeed not less than a cheetah! Accounting is a very logical subject. There is no rote learning in it. Study each and every thing logically by fully assimilating it. You will develop interest. It is better to study in a group. That really helps.
Well if you are still addicted to GS, I can help you here. You can go through a topic daily and I will ask question from it.

Oh I'm sorry I lost touch with the thread. ACA is Associate Chartered Accountant (Associate member), ACCA is Associate Chartered Certified Accountant, CIA is Certified Internal Auditor and QSMSA is Quailty and Safety Management Systems Auditor.
Congrats on your arrangement sumo. For an accountant in the making, you are missing out on the very basics here. Too much GS? lol

I don't know where you live, but in the US one can start work at a big 4 right after undergrad and complete their CPA while they are working.

^no, wat u mean by apprenticeship is what we call internships here. but after u graduate u can start working at an accounting firm without a cpa certificate and u can study for the exams while working. im sure the laws are different in the US from where u are.
i began interviewing over a yr before i graduated. i accepted an offer with the accounting firm that i will begin working for later this yr. i will have had that offer for over a yr before i start working. also, i graduated in december and could have started working in january but decided to wait till later this yr so i could take the exams and get them out of the way. they wouldnt have cared if i started working right away and took the exams later but ive heard numerous times that its extremely difficult to study for the exams while working because (specially at the big 4) they keep u working from around 8 am to 12-2am during busy season which is the november-march.
also, because of NY state law, i couldnt even take the exams while i was in school. so i had to take them after graduation and i wanted to take them before i started work. so it shouldnt be so hard to believe that i already have a full time audit offer. and besides, im very smart. haha
