I have Noticed in here in UAE , that Even Key Personnel of a Company/Organization will write about their Driving Licence in Their Resume.

In Pakistan it didnot matter but here you will see many advertisments with a phrase " Condidates with Valid UAE Driving Licence Prefered" ,

i wonder wether it matters in Other countries also?

^ not unless it's a job requirement - you don't even see it listed on CVs, let alone a r้sum้.

^ yep, and I'm talking in general about r้sum้s and CVs I've come across in Canada and the US in various industries.

Perhaps it also makes sense to list license information for places which do not have an adequate public transportation system... and cities in UAE are a case in point. In many countries, we take the subway / bus system for granted in getting us from point A to point B if our jobs required us to do so.

Well i know in the UK, the majority of people usually write the status of the driving licence (provisional/full clean) on their CVs... it depends if the job requires travel, like consultancy, project management etc where you're travelling to client sites...

I due it is comming in UAE due to

1. Perhaps it also makes sense to list license information for places which do not have an adequate public transportation system... and cities in UAE are a case in point. ( By LC)

2. ManPower , since here in UAE ManPower is from outside and an Organization have to bring from drivers outside (they have to arrange for them).

Like In Pakistan People donot need to mention it in His/her CV as there is adequate local manpower.

it depends if the job requires travel, like consultancy, project management etc where you're travelling to client sites ( By Maroush)

Ya , you are right it depends upon the Jobs nature.

Cheerful

the driving licenses question is different depending on the target country. As a recruiter i see thousands of cvs and generally yes driving skill / license is on the CV in majority of cases ouotside of the americas where it is never on the CV/resume.

regardless of which country, if you are applying for a driver job, make sure you mention you have a license.

Actually my question is not in regards of Professional Drivers , but for other Professionals who are Engineers , Project managers , Architects etc . That , do they also need Mentioning about their Driving Licence?.

I think Very Informative replies have come to this thread.

Yes , letting the potential employer know of your valid DL , can benefit you in many ways .

for example, Employer will know that you are mobile . It will help them determine whether you are to be given a car allowance or company car ( now or in the future years with the company )

Some companies like to hire people from close by areas and it really helps them see from the CV , how far away you live from the office location and whether you use your own transport or public transport , Client quiet often ask this question about candidate license and own car ..

I have lived in Dubai for a long time, hence I can tell you that its extremely important to write your DL details on your resume. It will help the employer calculate your full salary.

Whilst currently I am in the UK, I can tell you that it is always appreciated if DL details are mentioned. they leave a positive impact on the employer.

^^ agree, not for all sort jobs though, it all adds up to be flexible if there is need arises for you to work on role that require travelling between the sites.

on the same note, I observed this its mentioned only where getting driving license is quite a mission. ie UK, and some middle east countries.
