Can anyone suggest what is a hot career to pursue in terms of landing a job in toronto right now?

Also, does anyone have any experience with recruitment agencies who are willing to help you land a job at an entry-level/ intermediate state? All the popular ones seem to obv want those with over 10 yrs of experience n what not..

Last year durin my job search process, I came across this recruitment company via workopolis or so (I think it's called staff locater--- n not staff locator). Eitherways, as stupid as I am, I went in and this black guy smooth talked me into signing up with them and I ended up paying them $375 or so and they were to land me a job within the next month...

So yeah, nothing happened, and everytime I would call them up to speak with this guy and the receptionist would keep on making excuses.. till I just gave up...and then I got preggers and quit my part time job with this design company.

Now I'm wanting to get back into the work force but I want a fresh career start. Like perhaps enroll in some kinda short accounting course or so and just land a job. I already hav sum private work goin on in terms of my design work and I don't really care to work full time for a design/ architectural firm. Too much work and socializing that I can't handle anymore.

Suggestions please.. on where and how to start?? Or perhaps a good business school who're willing to offer short/ online courses ..

You can try different agencies. I've personally worked through quite a few of them through my school years. The experience I've gained is EXTREMELY valuable. I've worked for companies like DHL, Canon, City of Brampton, Rogers , National student loan service Center and so forth. Even though I haven’t worked for an agency in 2 years now I’d still recommend trying out the following: Appleone, Hunt personnel, Staffclick, Manpower. I might have something for you right now depending on your location and are you ONLY looking for accounting positions? Oh and you might wanna check out accountemps as well. PM me if you wanna talk further regarding this

Never pay a recruiting agency to find a job for you! The agency gets paid by the employer to place you. If it is a contract position the agency will likely cut the paycheck - i.e. the agency gets paid $18/hour and pays you $12/hour. If it is a permanent position - the employer pays a placement fee to the agency for finding a suitable candidate and thereafter you get paid by your employer.

In terms of which agency you should go to - it depends on the job you're you're looking for and your prior work experience. Robert Half is great for accounting positions - but they definitely want work experience. ZSA is great for legal jobs. Manpower is a great generalist - tons of companies hire through Manpower.

Good luck with the job search!
