Salam all,
I know that Canada doesn't recognize US CMA like it does UK CIMA. Has anyone over here immigrated to canada with this qualification, what did they have to do to become a canadian CMA. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I am from pakistan....but I don't understand how that matters if you are CMA qualified. What I need to know is what does a US qualified CMA have to do to attain Canadian CMA qualification.

Did you check SMA website?
http://www.cma-canada.org/
And if you Pakistan CMA, you will get exemptions in some their papers.

I did check with CMA-canada but they are very vague as in they don't give you any definitive exemptions, they told me that I would have to be in canada apply to them, they would review and then based on that I would be granted exemptions.
I was wondering if someone on gs might be a US CMA who moved to Canada, what happened in their case, that might give me an indication of what to expect from CMA -Canada

Unfortunately, there are no mutual recognition programs for the CMA designation in US and Canada. As you've stated above, each candidate applies individually, and each case is handled by the pertinent provincial CMA body in Canada to evaluate the type of exemption or advanced standing that is appropriate.

I think it is because the examining system in the USA is entirely different than the Canadian one. Canadian as well Pakistani professional accounting bodies examination system is very similiar to the one in the UK.

You can join the Management Accountants group on Yahoo. There are several Pakistani accountants there who can help you.
