Before I give you advice, what do you want to do with the degree?
Based on what you said, a few options:
- Teaching
- Doing freelance work like editing, essay evaluation
- Writing book/articles
These are just some thoughts. The key towards getting back to applying the education is making the first step, which is getting out there and letting the world know that you are here to use your English skills. All the best

abeeha pak-one has given u some really good options. I feel the answer to your question also depends on your location. If you are in north america somewhere, teaching is always a good option. Despite layoffs, it seems that some schools are still hiring, specially the islamic schools. If you wish, you are welcome to send me your resume and tell me if you are willing to relocate, and I will see what I can do.

Good journalism probably pays the best. Writing novel could pay off too but the field is entirely too saturated.
Having somewhat of an interest in English, I would suggest the best and most practical thing you could possibly do is to try and get another qualification which could allow you to diversify into another subject as making money of an English degree isn't fantastically easy.
As someone said, you could always teach...

PS: If you really are interested in the subject, doing another career doesn't mean abandoning English. It's something you could always do on the side to supplement your income, and who knows, you may get lucky and hit a jackpot if Allah wills! =)

pakone has asked the most critical question, what do you want to do. once u know what that is you can find aveneues to take you towards that, and by 'that' neither he or i mean what job you would want, but what is it that you like to do, what type of things.
there are all kinds of things like journalism, public relations, content mgmt (huge huge area), advertising, etc etc etc.

Yes, exactly as rest of u have answered to her question.. basically it depends on you abeeha what ur interested in further studies, job (what type) etc etc.... And ofcourse depends where you live...
As far as i know in some area's of Pakistan, many girls just study (i.e masters in English) and wait for good rishta's... i've met sooooooo many with masters in English.

well you want to do M Phil OK but for what? and why? these question you should be asking yourself. as according to you, you are wasting your study MA now and after completing M Phil you will be wasting that one too if you dont know what you want to do with your studies!

X2 is right, it is not about utilizing your time doing something. It always having some target and trying to take small steps to reach there.
Most young people has this problem they have no idea what suits them best, after doing your master you should mature enough know yourself well.
Please ask yourself what is your destination, and then start moving.
