Assalam u alaikum,
my name is ASIM and i am 27 year old. i had done my inter in 2002 and stop my education for some financial problems. during this period i did many odd jobs(like Helper, Salesman) in different markets in Karachi. almost 28 month before one of my friend ask me to teach his brother who was appearing in examination of eight class. he is Hafiz also and little bit older as compare to other students, so my friend wanted me to give tuition privately. first i refused that i am completely out of touch but he insisted that it was not a big class. when i started teaching him i came to realize that it was not so difficult as i was thinking. so in short i refreshed myself and take this job seriously. now you all become surprised that i am giving tuition to 8 students right now. all are fully satisfied with me. two of them are student of Cambridge system. i am teaching them D-1 maths. i did my intermediate with pre engg. with 63%. problem is that i have decided that i should increase my education and want to take admission in b.s evening program in university of karachi. when i visited its website i came to know that i can take admission easily in the subject of economics, statistics, even in b.s commerce too(if closing percentages wouldn't increase). when i share my decision with some of my friends and cousins, they started making fun of me. they thought education at this age is useless for me and i would be called UNCLE at the university. they suggested that i should leave all tuitions all start my previous odd jobs. some friends said that i should not take admission in commerce because age factor is will not support me during job searching. they suggested to go for economics, maths, stats combination in university and after 1 year start teaching in private schools with your tuitions.
after all this long story i am very very confuse. some time i think that why i started tuitions?? was my decision wrong?? let me share with all of you that tuitions earning is much better than odd jobs specially for me. i can do my whole 4 year B.S easily with this earning. please help me on this. i really need some good suggestions from you.
thanks.

continue with tuitions as it keeps u on your toes. do take addmission in college ...teaching O-level students is very well paid job. if this area has opened for u continue with it. cover all 4 books of D syllabus not very hard at all. math is an excellent subject to study..but i cannot advise you on what you shd study...NEVER think that further education is a waste of time. ignore ppl who make fun of u. they are no friends.

this is done all the time in US and UK...i dont know why there are age limitations in Pakistan. GO FOR MORE STUDIES.

what good is a grudge if you cannot hold onto it.

I feel your idea is brilliant. First teaching is profession of Prophets, if you know that. Its a profession which can give you maximum soul satisfaction. As you know that you are making individual characters. Secondly it pays well. Its far better than doing any job like helper or salesman at some shop under a boss. At least you are working independently. Go for it

Your idea of enhancing education is brilliant too. You can get education at any age. 27 is still young. No one will call you uncle and even if they do, so what? Its your life and you have to see what makes your future and what earns you some money. Time flies and so this time of grudation or masters will pass too. But at the end of these 2 yrs what you will achieve , the value would be known to you only. Do not listen to ur friends or anyone else. Do as you have planned. I second your ideas ...

Learning is a life long process. People who are not supporting your decision, do not pay attention to them. I would say just start, and you will notice one thing that your absorption of the material that you are studying is really different then how it was when you were in your teens. I myself am an adult student and I love learning at this age, and feel the difference. I enjoy learning all the new stuff and I think I react to it much more differently then when I did when I did before.
Good Luck

Wow how can someone say 27 is too old for education? I think it would be so much better if you continue with your tuition money and start school again- try to complete masters level and you'll be money for good jobs. I wouldn't comment on which subjects as that should be your personal decision, and living in Pakistan, you'd know better which majors are in demand.

I believe u are never too old for education. You should turn a deaf ear to ppl who make fun of you. Go for a degree.
