I'll be in Chicago, IL in May, actually Lansing, IL. Can someone suggest some interesting places to visit, museums, restaurants, historical parks, etc.

There is Lansing, Michigan. Never heard of one in IL.

But anyway, dig out this section and you'll find a thread on Chicago. I have a post in it too. Might find it useful.

Have a nice trip. And no matter what month you come make sure to pack a jacket along.

Funguy, a few weeks ago you said that Devon ave is accessible from the Lake Shore Loyola campus subway. I might have walked eight blocks west, but did not see a single kabab joint? It was more a Latino neighborhood. Where would I have seen the “south hall”?

I would suggest you should visit the following places:

Places in and around downtown:-

Field Museum
Art Institute of Chicago
Adler Planetarium
Grant Park
Sears Tower
(these places are very close to each other)

Garfield Park Conservatory
Baha'i Temple

Lakeshore
Devon street

Restaurants:-
Hong Kong Buffet (on N McCormick Rd)
Sonargaon - Bengali n Pakistani food (on Devon ave)
Sabri Nihari (Devon ave)
Usmania ( Devon ave)

lol...yeah, I dont know much about American/Italian etc restaurants..:-D

Will you be shopping too?

Malls (the best ones are in/near suburban area)

Gurnee Mills
Woodfield
Harlem Irving Plaza
Lincolnwood Town Ctr

let me know if you need an address for any of these places...

Loyola has many campuses around Chicago. The North Chicago campus (Sheridan & Devon) is only a mile from the Pakistani restaurants. I am not sure which campus you are talking about. You could very well be in the downtown area. lake Shore Drive runs for a good 40 miles .
