hi all

does anyone know of a good tailor in Lahore who can stitch any cut of dress well with good fit without screwing it up a gazillion times? and who does what he is told instead of trying to become the designer himself??
i feel i overspent when i got engaged by buying a designer dress , and now i just want to get my dress made myself instead of paying insane amounts of money.
any help?
and while i am talking ... :P .... does anyone live in rotterdam, netherlands?

hi,

what kind of cuts are you thinking of? all the traditional stuff or more contemporary designs?

i am definitely going for a traditional look, not exactly sure what, but i want to infuse a bit of flare towards the end of the lehenga in a patch-work style i think... and even more so i am concerned about the proper fitting of the blouse becuz i want a slightly low back and that tends to have pockets hanging if not stitched properly.
if not a darzi then someone who has experience stitching any kind of garment/cut and will not charge designer prices.
and if it's a woman ... then thats even better cuz you can talk more comfortably with them i feel.

if you're looking for a woman then she will most likely be a designer-y type person as the tailors themselves are usually men.
but yea, whoever you go with needs to have an experienced tailor who knows how to cut properly and stitch with darts in the appropriate places etc. i think to get anything like this perfect, you generally do need fittings and the designer him/herself needs to understand stitching so they can tack with pins in the right places where it needs to be later stitched.

there is a post in this thread by a user called dooree, it might be what you're looking for:
Cheap DarZi !!!!
