I saw no reason whatsoever for such an action. No one was slandring others in that thread. It was a decent discussion compared to the usual standard of the religion forum.

Was it closed because, for once it was discussing the beliefs that non-ahmadis hold and it was becoming apparent that those beliefs could not be defended?

TLK i thought you were a pretty balanced guy but since you have become director, the religion forum especially has taken a nose dive. We have threads where the same posters break the same rules of the forum over and over, yet neither their posts are edited nor are they reprimended. Your own moderators are going around breaking the rules of the forum and nothing is done about it. But when a discussion is generally on topic and relatively civil, its locked because it exposes the absurdity of certain beliefs which are shared by the management.

Thumbs down.

If only chacha_Ghalib you could see the recent conversations initiated by Ehsan bhai, but if you could I guess it would still not convince you.

The Prophet(SAW) said:
"I am leaving you two things and you will never go astray as long as you cling to them -- they are the Book of Allah and my Sunnah." [Reported by Al- Haakim - Sahih].

umm what?
where are those conversations? and what does that have to do with closing the thread i'm talking about?

i posted another thread in feedback a while ago where i requested that certain topics should not be allowed as they serve no constructive purpose. This was, as expected, ignored and the ahmadi beliefs thread kept going on and on. I can go to that thread and find numerous posts which are in direct contravention of the forum rules but they are still there. Funny thing is, most of them are from the same posters. Now if they were being given warnings for breaking forum rules, i'd think they would've accumulated enough warnings in that thread to warrant a ban.

The point is certain threads and posts are more tolerable than others. "Is Jesus a prophet" thread being a perfect example of the double standard. I still haven't heard a reason and i think neither did the thread opener seeing that he has also opened a protest thread.

So, was there a reason for closing it?

CG, I think that Iconos reply makes sense. You leave a controversial thread open even after the askers question has been answered, and some one will come and say something stupid and new war will start.

Mods, sometimes to preserve their sanity, lock the thread when they think that enough discussion has taken place.

you already know how volatile R&S has become over Ahmadi/Non-Ahmadi Issue. One less thread that has potential of going that route would actually help a lot.

Hello, before you locked my thread, you could have at least left a message explaining why you closed it.

Someone telling me that Jesus still has the title of a Prophet, but isn't a Prophet and won't "come back" as a Prophet isn't a reasonable answer to me. And comparing that title to the title of a Doctor or General isn't either.

PMing people that the thread is now locked is indeed a courtesy, though not necessarily a requirement or duty of moderators. Nevertheless, I agree that probably Mods should have.

We all notice what mods failed to do, because what they do behind the scenes to keep a smooth forum flow goes unnoticed. We (as members) dont see the dozen PMs that they send to others, but off course we notice if we dont receive a PM about our thread. Although our expectation is justified, I think its OK to let go of one or two incidents like such, but if that is an ongoing concern, members do have right to bring it up.

Mods really work hard and spend lots of time to go through their forum and moderate what is necessary. I am not expecting any medal of honor from members but they do deserve a lots of respect and appreciation from me on what they do.

^ I didn't mean PM-ing me about the thread. With leaving a message I meant posting in the thread before closing it.
