goto control panel

select add/remove program
select the program you want to uninstall..
click on remove.

A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?

Well there's no other way but to delete the files/folders manually. But you have to make sure that this does not negatively effect the PC, as in you don't delete dll files that maybe required. Like, if you are trying to uninstall VGA drivers and instead you delete them then you'll have problem with the display. Windows will choke and wine

The control panel may not be working because the uninstall file (for your app) may have been corrupted, deleted or was never packaged!!

The control panel actually provides a link to the uninstall file that may have been packaged with the app that you installed. It then unregisters any dll's associated with the system (one can unregister these files manually as well ... but you have to know the exact names of the dll files )

^^ Allah kay banday yeh tou bata kay koun sa program hai ... kiss terha ko program hai. You just can't go about deleting files. How about you do some homework -> Find out if there are any dll files that are being used by the app and are critical. Then I'll give you the commands to unreg the files, if necessary.

P.S: If you care to tell me which program you have then it might make things easier

i opened a thread upon this topic quite recently, but to no avail, here goes again:

program = TuneUp Utilities 2004

publisher = Tune Up Software

version = 4.1.2312

support information = www.Tune-Up.com

when i try to remove this program via control panel, the followng happens:

*sheesh screen dump won't upload*

p.s "wat r dll files?"

How about trying this utility before I install tune-up myself and play with it.

Uncle you should have saved it as a jpeg and not bmp .... these bmps just bloat like anything

looking into the issue ...

[EDIT] the reason you are getting the error is because, initially, you installed the program from the desktop and then you deleted it. Now the program is trying to access the uninstall package, but obviously your highness has deleted it. If you run the setup file again and fix/repair the current installation things should be normal, HOPEFULLY!!

let me know if this helps :conused:

I'm sorry this is getting too much for you but you have to try various options before you can hit for the last resort.

When I said setup file I mean the .exe file you downloaded from the net/whatever and used to install the app. Run the same installation package again and see if it gives you the option to fix/repair the installation.

Calm down alright, take it easy. I know these PC's test your patience at times but you gotta be cool headed

nos the .exe file u mentioned is no where to be found yaara !!!!!!

kami that was the 1st idea that popped up into my mind about installling over this program, but that didn't work either [ ] as after downloading i can't install tuneup utilities 2004 unless the previous version of the same program is uninstalled and that i can't do via control panel as i have unintentionally deleted the desktop short cut route to it!!!!

mein buri tarha sai phasaaa huwa houn ppl

Hmmm ... if it says that you have to uninstall the older version then what you can do is simply delete the registry entries. You may use this tool to delete the TuneUp entries in the registry. But make sure that you back up the registry before you pull any stunt.

RegCleaner

I hope this helps this time around and if it doesn't ... *sigh ... report back and inshallah we'll try to find another solution
