Configuring e-mail client e.g outlook with Yahoo/Hotmail

Is there a way of configuring yahoo mail with Outlook without signing up with the paid 'plus' accounts?

With Yahoo its not possible to do the free account. But with Outlook 2007 I'm able to login to the hotmail account using MAPI. I haven't been able to put my various accounts in the same set of folders, but they do come up and I'm able to send emails from different accounts with proper credentials.

Hotmail
It is also possible with Windows Live Mail software, when you install Windows live essentials and you have office 2007, you 'll find a component at the end of installation that will ask you whether you want Windows live support in outlook or not
just say yes.

Yahoo
It has been said you can download yahoo mail to your pc via Thunderbird using some extensions. I tried it but it didn't work great, it disappointed me.
