Can someone brief us about difference AMD processors and their level of quality especially if we want to campare it with Intel.
Like we know that Intel has intel celeron or intel original etc. I know has AMD has named different processors but I dont know which processor is of what quality.
Thanks in adv.

Sempron is Celeron
Athlon is pentium
Athlon X2 is pentium dual core
Athlon X2 II is core duo
and then there is phenom X3 and X4 having 3 and 4 cores respectively which can be compared to quad core CPUs from intel
AMDs are little slower but are much cheaper and best value for money.
PS: Intel and AMD chips cant be compared technically as they both have different architectures

adding to what lafanter said, AMDs are easily overcloackable but depending on the motherboard bios options.

I've just made my uncle buy a HP notebook having AMD turion dual core. Is it a bad purchase? While its already done, what precaution can be taken to handle it gently and carry it over to next few years?
