We finally settled on an X-Box. Though its primarily for my 4 year old son, but obviously daddy also likes to play around with the great graphics. So, folks, come out with some game recommendations.
1. Are there any good games for kids on X-box? I couldn't find too many.
2. I got two of my favorites already. FIFA Soccer and SEGA car racing. Now I am looking for some more sport-oriented games (e.g. basketball, tennis, cricket, etc), car/bike racing, fighter aircraft simulation or some karate games which two players can play.
I am not too much in role-playing elaborate games. I rented Nightfire but got bored quickly. Games, for me, should be to relax and enjoy, not spending mental calories to figure out complex themes and mysteries.
Please provide some of your personal favorites.

Halo, you just gotta trust me with that one if you want 1st person shooter with lots of multiplayer option and an intruguing storyline and of course a knock-your-socks-off campaign mode. You can't go wrong.

so you just bought x-box for 200 bucks? next week they're lowering the price to $150.
I think Halo is a good choice if mature people are playing. Kids can enjoy the multiplayer modes too. If you're in the US there are no cricket games on any system. You'd have to modify your system and import them from the good ol' great Britain.
There aren't that many games for kids on Xbox. If you can I suggest you buy Gamecube for 149.99 but next week or so it'll be for $99.99. Then you can buy Lugi's Mension, the latest Mario game, I think it's Mario adventure or something. The whole plateform is for kids and this system is the best choice for them.

Coming back to X-Box games.. so folks, gimme some recommendations on more sport-oriented games (e.g. basketball, tennis etc), car/bike racing, fighter aircraft simulation or some karate games etc etc etc?

a ps2 would've been better.. but hey this thread isn't about how you didn't choose a good gaming system so i'll let it go but seriously from whatever little i know (not being a gaming freak and all) there are more big name games for ps2, its a more mature platform plus it can be used as a dvd player.
for xbox, take a look at xbox.hotgames.com it should give you info about some good sports related games.

ammar.. all the discussions I read, it seems supporters of PS2 and X-box are equally vocal (intt kuttay ka vair typa vocal) that their system is better. It seemed X-box has better graphics and PS-2 has more games. However, as time goes on, most new games are coming out for both X-box and PS 2 versions simultaneously. So, I opted for better graphics.
Plus, with a $29 remote, an X-box can also be used as DVD player. But thats really not how its gonna be used.
Coming back to the games, it seems to me that most games are that role-playing kind where you have to figure out complex missions and kill a lot of people. What I am looking at are more sports-oriented games, racing and karate action. Multi-player, but not internet-based.

I bought a PS2 last year and have been playing only 1 game since, Cricket 2002.
Its very addicting, though I usually play it once every 2 weeks but I am the best at it. Waqar Younis scored 500 runs against Sri Lanka the other day.

4 year old xbox is renowned for it's great graphics and related blood parties. I suggest a game cube or Game boy, and maybe any older system like SNES (an excellent one).
The best game, at least in my opinion, is Halo for the xbox, no xbox owner should be without it. Then there's Max Payne, Splinter Cell, Unreal Tournament, etc. but they're all mature. There are some sports games for it, but I've not seen one I really like yet. M$ has a lot of money so games for the xbox seem to be pretty good.
It took me a while but I finally got Cricket 2002 for PC. Yey! We're all hooked now. I'm thinking of some way to get it online to everyone.

Yup. Halo is a must have. Almost every other game for X-box sucks.
(ahh the memories of super nes...those were the days)
