County Championship Division One, Hove, final day (stumps): Sussex 385 & 383-7 dec. beat Lancashire 377 & 139 by 252 runs
Sussex captain Chris Adams must have been regretting the timing of his declaration against Lancashire when spin-bowling sensation Mushtaq Ahmed took the final wicket with just 10 balls remaining.
Mushtaq ended with 5-49 to go with figures of 6-124 in the first innings and Sussex are now just five points behind champions Surrey as the title race enters its final stages.
Adams, who made scores of 140 and 190 in the match, waited until just 20 minutes before lunch to close his team's second innings.
That left Lancashire with a notional target of 388 but the win was never really a viable option for the visitors.
Billy Taylor, who would not have played had James Kirtley and Jason Lewry been available, started the rot, taking the first four wickets to fall in an inspired display.
That set the stage up for Mushtaq though dogged displays from Chris Schofield and Warren Hegg almost denied Sussex the win.
Full Scorecard Here.

I highly doubt Mushi will make a comeback. As mentioned in the other post that Miandad is not to keen about Mushi coming back to the team as he would like Kaneria to take the place of a regualr spinner. I think Mushi's experience would have been very handy in the Natwest series agaisnt England as he was familiar with the conditions. Kaneria is a very talented spinner and should have been given more chances during the rebuilding process. Anyway I think its more likely that Saqlain will make a comeback comapred to Mushtaq.

Mushtaq Ahmed took his 100th wicket in county championship this morning. He became the first bowler to take 100 wickets in a season since Andrew Caddick in 1998. Congrats to Mushtaq.

^^ On Occasions Mushtaq has been able to perfrom for Pakistan. On the other hand apart from his test debut Azhar has rarley looked to be threatning as a bowler or a batsman. We have way to many all rounders. During Azhar's playing time we had Afridi, Razzaq and Azhar himself. Now we have RAzzaq, Shoaib Malik & Hafeez. We dont need another allrounder but a specialist bowler. If Saqalain fails and Kaneria dont seem like improving I think someone like Mushtaq deserve a chance.

He should get a chance, but I doubt it. But you never know!

congrats to mushi bhai for acheiving 100 wicket mark. I hope this selectors will finally take notice of his form and bring him back. We dont have any top notch spinner in our squad. And if he can do even half of what he did in counties, then his inclusion would be justified
