Rest of World XI
So the ICC is considering a Rest of the World XI to play against the top ranked team every two years. At the moment that team is Australia, of course, so who would be in the Rest of World XI?
If the World Test XI was based on PwC Ratings (which would be the logical approach), this would be the team:
Openers: Richardson & Trescothick (though Gibbs & Vaughan are in close contention)
Middle order: Lara, Tendulkar, Inzamam
All-rounder: Kallis
Keeper: Boucher
Bowlers: Pollock, Shoaib Akhtar, Murali & Harbhajan (or Ntini if another paceman is needed).
The make-up is:
South Africa - 3
India - 2
Pakistan - 2
Sri Lanka - 1
England - 1
New Zealand - 1
West Indies - 1
Not a bad spread of players across the countries. This idea could work

What do you guys think? I'll put in Gibbs in place of Trescothick and rest appears OK to me. Can this team beat Aus in a 7 match ODI series?
I married my wife because of her good looks but not the looks the has been giving me lately

why are you guys picking Boucher as the keeper. I think Adam Ghilchrist is currently the best keeper/batsmen in Cricket.

ICC propose Super Series concept
S Rajesh - September 19, 2003
Australia's ruthless domination of all the other teams in international cricket has often made people wonder about how they would fare if pitted against the best players from the rest of the world. Come 2005, and cricket fans might actually get to see a Test match between Australia and the Rest of the World.
Announcing the concept of the Super Series, Malcolm Speed, the chief executive of the ICC, stated that the Cricket Committee – Management (CC-M) have proposed that the leading team in the ICC Test Championship table play a one-off Test against a Rest of the World XI. That will be followed by a three-match one-day series, where the top team in the ICC one-day championship table would take on the Rest of the World.
Mr Speed stressed that this event still remained in the planning stages. "While the idea for an ICC Super Series has been agreed, there remains much work to be done to see if this idea can become a reality. At this stage we are continuing to look at the considerable financial, planning and logistical issues that go along with such an event to see if it is practical to stage this tournament."
If things went according to plan, the first such series would be played in South Africa in September 2005.

its REST OF THE WORLD vs AUSTRALIA so u cant take gilchrist....
however i think we can think of taibu as a good keeper....
or jacobs....
and whoever suggested richardson as opener shud go and watch cricket first....
gibbs is definitely in....
and can be joined by trescothick....
tendlia can come one down....
then lara....
we can fir in yoyo if inzi shud not be in....
and kallis definitely has to be taken....
then the keeper can come in....
and the four bowlers wud be shoaib, bond, murali and mushtaq ahmed (just to give some variety)....
ok it was just a joke, leave mushi and select from gough, ntini or zaheer khan....
i dont think harbajhan will even be considered as 12th man....

^^ Saqlain & Moin cannot find a place in the Pakikstani line up let alone in the rest of the world XI.

Saurab Ganguly should be included as captain. He and his Aussie counterpart are the only current captains with the brain and attitude to be captains.

Yup, in fact Saurab should lead both the Aussies and the rest of the world, in order that the both teams can benefit from his enormous cricketing brain.
