14-0-75-3
thats the combined figures for spin bowlers for india in the loss.
Pakistans spinners will be the key. Shoaib has to bowl his full quota if he plays, he cant bat but maybe he can contribute with the ball, 4 from ajmal, 4 from afridi.
<edit>
and 2-3 from younis & Alam if he plays.

One thing about South Africans is that they prepare well and make plans for the opposition. They will be ready for Ajmal and Afridi's spin, and Gul's yorkers. They would also know how to prevent Akmal and Shahzaib to go for big strokes. They would be ready to pounce on Razzaq's tendency to send half-volleys. And they'd also take advantage of Pakistan batsmen's weak run calling.
All of Pakistan's players must be on top of their game to beat South Africa. Fielding will be crucial, because fielding alone could give a 20-25 run advantage to SA.

Shoaib's bowling will be eaten up alive by the South Africans. His batting, though comprising ugly hoiks and lead-footed drives, could be effective.

All Pakistan need is to play hard and tough. Fight for every ball, every run.
I'm not sure yet why dont they use Fawad Alam. I saw him in domestic cricket and found him really talented and useful especially very handy in T20 matches. May be S. Malik's lobby is scared he may get out if Fawad gets settled in the team. Just a speculation!

I see what you are saying, unorthodox batting is harder to plan against, but my point was that Malik will do better than most of our pacers except maybe Gul purely on the bowling type.
Saf have taken almost 8-10/over off pacers on average.

They would have planned for all spinners of course, and they get choked, dont take too many risks. So they dont loose wickets but dont score runs too much either. Ajmal will do well for sure because he is relatively new for them. Afridi has found some new variations, so should be good too.
Fielding will be important yeah, but we need a 50 and a couple of 20s and we will get 140. Razzak, Akmal, Yunis : one of them has to score a 50.
my point was that our pacers will get hit pretty bad at the start & more so in the middle apart from Gul who seems to be doing well bowling his full quota at the end. Much better bowlers have been hit around the park by Saf than Razzak & Amer this tourney.
so 12 overs of spin min. I think.

yeap, he has taken 29 first class twenty 20 wickets @ 14.41
in international T20 games he is 8 wickets @ 10.00
WOW those are good figures, maybe he is supposed to be the surprise feature in the semis so Saf wouldnt have been able to plan for them.
those are good averages, he should be bowling some!

Bowling is great. Its the batting. Afridi, Razzaq need to score and Misbah needs to show up...he hasn't done anything in the tournament.
Pakistan should beat SA.

I agree to your points re. fielding and run calling (Shahzaib please don't start running after hitting the ball. Look at the fielder and more importantly judge the distance the ball has travelled...)
We w'd certainly need d'uaein on top of our skills to beat South Africa tomorrow

As big a fan i am from pak i think we lose to SA they are playing great cricket rite now, we have only beat one good or u could say medioker team NewZealand, we played india we lost, played Eng we lost to them, played SLanka lost to them, we have only won games that against B grade teams, on the other hand SA had beat Windies, India, Lanka, etc, so please post your comment why Pak will win, and please be realistic thanks.

Pak will win because it is peaking at the right time. Other teams had played some T20 matches while our team had a horrifying season marred with tragedies. These guys are mentally tough, they can and should do this.

Our chances are slim to win against an in-form SA team. However, batting is our biggest worry. And Younis Khan is too predictable as a captain. Same bowlers used in pretty much the same format in each game of the tournament. However, he will need to innovative. Same approach wont work. Look at NZ how they opened the bowling with N. Mcullum against SL and got Jayasuriya off the first ball sweeping.
Also, we have 5 main bowlers who can bowl out the 20 overs so we dont need Shoaib Malik bowling 1 expensive 11th or 12th over. All too predictable. Stick to the front line bowlers and please, the same squad. No Sohail Tanvir. He is too erractic these days and we cant afford the 11 ball over he bowled. Tight bowling and good batting and excellent fielding will have us compete well against SA. And inshaAllah, hopefully we will win.
