With Asif's inclusion in the playing 11 against Aussies and his impressive performance today , the team management will be facing a tricky situation on Saturday. Who will they drop? Whoever will be dropped, they will drop him not because of his performance but because someone will have to sit.
Don't think it is going to be Aamer or Asif. I guess these 2 will be the automatics picks as the new ball bowlers.
Rana's performace today with the ball will make it tough for them to drop him. Additionally he is a handy batsman and on a tricky pitch Pakistan would like to have as many batting options as possible.
Gul has been off color in this tournament. That doesn't mean that he cannot perform in the semi final. He could be the one destroying the Kiwi line up on Saturday. But again with so much competion for the bowling squad, I guess Gul unfortunately becomes the weak candidate.
Pakistan may also decide to go for the pace option and drop Ajmal on the bowling friendly pitch.
It is an interesting situation and I am sure team management will not be able to decide anything sometime soon.

They have only two days to decide.
Tough one but my bowling line up would be Asif, Aamir, Gul, Afridi and Ajmal.

that reminds me, we have to keep an eye on Afridi's condition as well. I hope it is not his webbing which he injured while taking that catch.

My line up would be
Aamer
Asif
Gul
Rana
Afridi
Ajmal is one of my favourite players these days however in my opion if we play with the above line up we might not have to use the spinners at all. It is a gamble but I think it is time for a gamble.

Just play like today if Imran is still out. Otherwise, switch Misbah with Imran. Open bowling with Asif and Aamer.

Sir jee, Aamer was rested today. Do you want today's team or you want to open bowling with Aamer?

In my opinion drop MoYo for Asif.
Promote Umar Akmal instead. He gets only few overs which is very unfair for such a talent.
Misbha should be dropped for Imran Nazir as well.
With all due respect to MoYo, I don't think he is a one day player. Nor is Misbah.

You want me to give you the names from current Pak lot?
Or want me to define an ODI player in general?

Yousuf and Misbah will be important during the semi final. They must play.
Note sure if Nazir is going to click @ Wanderers against Bond.

Considering how well they all bowled today, it would be unfair to sit anyone out. But Aamer has to play so I would sit Gul out. I would go with Aamer, Asif, Ajmal, Rana and Afridi.

I agree with his logic on promoting Umar - but not with his criteria on ODI player...
Don't forget Misbah untill recently used to be the big hitter of ODIs and Moyo is the sheet anchor for your batting line, some one who can give strength without being flashy....
so check again MD

Staying for 50 overs does not define a good ODI player. It could be important in tests but not in ODI.
What good is staying for 50 overs if the end result is 205? (It would have been even worst, had it not been for 10 runs in the last over by Rana and co.)
This much we can get even without these two.
So I seriously think Asif should be brought in (specially when the track is bowlers friendly) and either MoYo or Misbah or both should be dropped.
Umar Akmal could replace their spot in the middle order. So you have it in him. Trade one test batsman for a bowler. Lets go...

And you have obviously forgotten what staying for 50 overs means in context of what those two did in the match against India.
