LAHORE: Controversial fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar continues to irk the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the pacer now wants the reluctant board to fund his knee surgery. The PCB has in fact refused to bear the expenses for the surgery that Shoaib plans to have next week in England under the supervision of noted orthopedic surgeon Andy Williams. Shoaib had sent a copy of the medial recommendation which says he requires surgery for a chronic knee problem to the board. He wanted the board to pay for his expenses, a PCB spokesman said. But PCB chairman Ijaz Butt has so far not taken any decision on the report sent by Shoaib, he added.
There is a clause in the central contract that clearly states that players can only be provided medical treatment by the board when they sustain injuries while playing for the country. Since Shoaib has not played for a while for Pakistan we cant cover his medical treatment.
Shoaib has played a handful of Tests and one-day matches in the last two and half years due to fitness and disciplinary issues. Shoaib, who has taken 178 Test and 223 one-day international wickets, was hoping to play some domestic cricket in a bid to convince the selectors he was ready for a return to the national team. Apparently two weeks have passed since Shoaib sent his report and the pacer has become so frustrated that he has decided to bear the expenses himself for the time before the matter is resolved.

PCB shud not give a single penny to this "Khilaree kum Thurkee Ziada" guy. after Amir and Asif we dont need him nemore.
If time is not real, then the dividing line between this world and eternity, between suffering and bliss, between good and evil, is also an illusion.

Don't say that. He may find a way into the dressing room and hit Amir with a bat, ... on his knee, ... to see if board will pay. Injuries caused in dressing room are not exactly the injuries occured while playing. Or may be Ijaz will tell shoaib, "congrats, now you have to pay for 2 knees".

Dont think Pakistan have the luxury of saying bye bye to Shoaib so easily. There is no one as express as him hanging around in Pakistan cricket. The likes of Gul are nowhere near as fast as Akhter.
If Akhter gets fully fit, plays at least half a season of domestic cricket...then it would be good to have him back in the side.
He is a strike bowler and he could be very valuable against the Aussies and England during the next few overseas tours we have coming up.
I also think Younis Khan could handle him a lot better than Malik and Inzamam did.
A test line up of Akhter,Amir,Asif,Kaneria would be the best bowling line up in the world...it would also make the likes of Gul work harder and ensure they dont take their place for granted...
Shoaib can still contribute to Pakistan cricket..especially in test matches...for the next 2 years if he is handled correctly and has learnt his lesson.
