Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi said the pacers had no role in India's tri-series triumph in Sri Lanka, which was possible because of strong performance by the spinners.
One of the most elegant players of his era, Pataudi was disturbed by the tendency of the Indian pacers to gradually slow down.
He, in fact, went on to say that India doesn't have any fast bowler at all.
"I don't think they are fast to begin with. I consider 90 mph fast but these guys are bowling 80mph. They are not fast, at best they could be called medium fast," he said.
Pataudi did not seem to have been impressed by Dhoni's captaincy in South Africa but the former skipper was not ready to call for his head either.

i m listening this sort of thing since my childhood. many of the ppl think that majority of indians are vegetarian thats y they are unable to generate the pace.
If time is not real, then the dividing line between this world and eternity, between suffering and bliss, between good and evil, is also an illusion.

Nothing new in that. We all know India does not have any FAST bowler in their team (for quiet long now). They do tend to come up with a 1 series sensation every now and then but there are no PROPER fast bowlers who are capable of performing around the world on consistent basis.

Majoriy of Indians may be vegetarian, but what is Muslim population in India? Isn't it comparable to Pakistan? What about Bengladeshis, are they vegetarians too?

That's an accurate observation - nothing new here.
However, J Srinath who at his peak was bowling 150 kmph plus was a vegetarian so I don't think diet is an issue here
I think its more to do with youngsters wanting to become batsmen rather than bowlers...

Over the years I have watched Indian pace and spin bowlers and the current lot is well below par when compared to Srinath, Kapil, Bedi and Chandrashekar.

^ Isn't that true for a lot of countries (including Pak) ? The current lot of bowlers is below par compared to the yesteryear greats...
