NEW DELHI: Opener Chris Gayle scored blistering unbeaten 175 off 66 balls to powerRoyal Challengers Bangalore to 263/5 againstPune Warriors India in their IPL match at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on Tuesday.

      Scorecard

This is the highest T20 score ever made by any team thus far. Gayle scripted history as he scored the fastest century in the history of cricket against Pune Warriors India.

Gayle slammed a 30-ball blistering century with the help of 11 sixes and 8 boundaries. Bangalore team reached the 200-run mark in just 15.5 overs.

Gayle also slammed 17 record sixes which are maximum scored by any player in one innings. The Gayle storm continued to haunt Pune bowlers as he scored 150 runs in just 53 balls with the help of 11 fours and 16 sixes.

Openers Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan added 167 runs for the first wicket as Pune side got the first breakthrough in the 14th over when Ali Murtaza dismissed Dilshan, who scored 33 off 36 balls.

Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan added 167 runs for the first wicket as Pune side got the first breakthrough in the 14th over when Ali Murtaza dismissed Dilshan, who scored 33 off 36 balls.

Gayle also scored the fastest ever IPL hundred in just 30 balls as he surpassed Yusuf Pathan's 37-ball ton.

Gayle's bat was breathing fire right from the start as he hammered four sixes and one boundary in one single over of Mitchell Marsh.

Earlier, the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors India was briefly interrupted by rain after the start at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

Bangalore side, after they were put into bat, made 11 in just 1.2 overs when the rain played spoilsport.

Gayle welcomed debutant seamer Ishwar Pandey by hammering two boundaries of Pandey's first two deliveries.

Pune Warriors India skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to field against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their IPL match.

Bangalore retained their side, which beat Rajasthan Royals, while Pune made three changes asMitchell Marsh came in place of Ajantha Mendis, debutant Ishwar Pandey replaced Abhishek Nayar and Ali Murtaza drafted in place of leggie Rahul Sharma in the final eleven.

      One spectator had a plycard

When Gayle bats fielders become spectators and spectators become fielders.

Very aptly said about the biggest hitter of our times.

Its still cricket even if its domestic and this my friend is the fastest century in any form of cricket in history. I watched it life at work on a big screen It wasnt just our gali ke bowlers, there where Marsh, Finch, Wright, Murtaza in Pune Warriors Team. And i really enjoy this format of the game

^^ IPL is not really your average domestic cricket. But again, in today's crop afridi is no where close to gayle. Its a matter of time before Gayle or someone else breaks that record as well.

What a phenomenal player Gayle is. Simply breath-taking. Domestic cricket or not. Its a feat that will not be broken.

An unbelievable feat but to say that it overshadows Viv's 56-ball test century (the real deal) or Gilchrist's 57-ball test hundred or Afridi's 37-ball ODI hundred is overstating it. Domestic performances can/should never get the same recognition.

For all his IPL exploits, Chris Gayle has a modest international record in both tests and ODIs. A batsman of his calibre should be averaging 50+ in tests and in the mid-40s in ODIs ... in an era where every Tom, Dick & Harry averages 50+ in test cricket. Chanderpaul, a far less gifted batsman than Gayle averages almost 52 in tests.

I agree there is a difference, not only its not an international game (though all the players are intl players and IPL is not an average domestic league) but Gayle doesnt have half the class that Sir Viv or Gilly had. Gayle doesnt have pressure when he bats so basically he can do what he wants without worrying about his career.

But you can also not refute that Chris Gayle is the biggest hitter of our times. He is brutal and charismatic and lets his performance talk for him, in India he is right behind Dhoni in terms of popularity.

Yes Gayle is destructive but mentally weak. You won't back him to consistently deliver in knock-out or pressure games, like he failed in the IPL Final v SLA

He is an entertainer for sure

Yea, we get it, only pakistan produces world class bowlers, and the rest is just garbage, anyways, domestic or international, T20 is all about entertainment and i really love Gayle and IPL for that.

P.S: We support the same team in IPL (KKR), if you didnt switched your team this season
