I just finished watching a Pakistani drama called Moorat.

Its about a boy who grows up to be a transvestite, marries and has a child also.

Now I always thought khusray were either eunuchs or hermathrodites, therefore they had no kids.

Is there another word in the urdu/punjabi language or is the word khusra the word for all three?

In English there are different names for different catogories but I am not sure about urdu. We know the terms Khawaja saras and Khusras that are used for such people and hence everyone falls under this braod rubric. I guess (IMHO) the khawaja sara is more like an euphemism.
So,the boy in the drama was neither an eunuch nor a hemaphrodite. He could simply be considered a transvestite ( one who likes to dressup in clothes worn by opposite gender) or a transexual ( who emotionally or psychologically feels that they belong to the opposite sex).

In Urdu/Punjabi we use the terms Hijra or Khusra for a load of different categories but in English they are all separate, Babar turned into a transsexual because of his uthna bethna with the Hijra/Khusra community and women.

A transvestite is different, it’s usually someone who dresses that way for sexual pleasure, they are not feminine, there is an English boy at my school who told me he wears his bythch’s chudees because it turns him on.

I don't really know the answer to your actual question. But Kashif Mehmood's acting in that drama was excellent.

Chanji, you are not supposed to say bad things about people who are not present. Roman will not like it, if he heard you have been talking about him this way.

I think the guy in moorat was portraying the character of a drag queen, and not a hermaphrodite, per se. Thats why he had a child as well.

    Different types of Hijra.

Hermaphrodites/intersexuals are naturally born with genatalia that is a bit of both genders.

Eunuchs were castrated (had their balls cut off) by say a king who wanted a strong man to guard his harem of concubines and wives but didn't want him to be sexually attracted to them so he took his balls away.

Transvestines are born as physically men but they dress as women and sometimes have an operation to make themselves look more like a woman because they feel they are trapped in the wrong body.

Transvestites are not hijra, they're usually normal striaght men who wear womens clothes for kinky fun.

This post reminds me of my psychology lessons.

Anybody can explain this scientifically what the hijra is. Do the have some other kind of private body parts or it is only mental desire of homosexuality??

There are types of Hijras.. There are basically three types:

    (1) Moorat

They are naturally defective and live like women.. They are considered most important among Hijra

    (2) Zanane

These are not naturally defective, but they enjoyed to behave like women (talking, dressing) like them

    (3) Dhandageer / Narbaan

They present themselves like Moorat (naturally defective), but actually they are men... They change their gender after operation.

PS: You can read more about them in the book 'Heera Mandi' by Zahid Akkasi.
