I started reading no God but God also -- wonderful book. VERY powerful so be a little careful. The first couple of chapters really try to shake your belief system.
I just finished Talkative Man by RK Narayan. Charming to say the least.. anyone who knows RK saab knows he loves to leave an unfinished taste in your mouth. This book is no different, nevertheless a nice short quick read. Soemthing to do on a quiet weekend.I have OCD: Obsessive Cullens DisorderBite Me! -- PleaseI like running with scissors...makes me feel dangerous

Judging by what Ive read so far, its an interesting tale by an observant writer. The story is in the form of a monologue and revolves around an ambitious and impressionable young man who finds himself torn between his apparently conflicting associations. His love for an extraordinary woman forms an important thread which runs through much of the novel, providing an insight into his mental struggles concerning his identity and affiliations.
I hope I didnt give away too much.

We think differently then --
My mind was thinking "Allah mian carry me through this"
This book like completely breaks down where the kaaba orginated from and you're forced to think what if it is just a building? But Author makes a very good point, its not the myths that are true or false , but its the truth in culture that these myths provide.
But you should read it soon, I will too and then I'll probably pick your brain.

Yeh it was a little like MothSmoke -- but rather like the sequal.
The general theme of both books was the same -- out of place good guy turning black or grey and his journey. But in MothSmoke, its an older crowd and deals more with Pakistan's internal problems where as TRF is more about problems facing the foriegn based Pakistani -- who not a mullah but isn't completely a Cancun going drunk teenager.
The writing style is similar as well - both are from a narative perspective.
I would recommend reading both..I have OCD: Obsessive Cullens DisorderBite Me! -- PleaseI like running with scissors...makes me feel dangerous

Unaccustomed Earth- Jhumpa Lahiri- Fiction
it's the heart afraid of dying, that never learns to dance; It's the dream afraid of waking, that never takes the chance; It's the one who won't be taken, who cannot seem to give; And the soul afraid of dying, that never learns to live.
