Conspiracy of Fools: A True Story
by Kurt Eichenwald

about the rise and fall of Enron, a nice book, all of us have the same aspirations Enron people had.. money, money and more money , but for Enron executives sky was the limit... I was stunned at the audacity of Enron people, their relentless efforts to convince and influence the auditors, consultants and EVEN the security exchange commission rewarded them each time. I can relate to many things in this book, perhaps I am an accounting major. But you don't need to be one to appreciate this book. :-)

Fukuyama End of History...Its an old book but if you are interested in what the Wests objective is regarding the Muslim world then its a good read...
Basis premise is hisotory is all about empires rising and falling but Western neo liberalism is seen as being the final idelogy and must elimiate all other idelogies ie Islam to end history...really important book...

"The Return of the Pharaoh" by Zainab Ghazali. Real good book. I started reading it after Isha and was done before Fajr. It will bring tears to your eyes.

Sorry for bumping a very very old thread but can you ppl pls recommend me some good books on Pakistani politics and History ( particularly on the splitting of East and West Pk)

Biographies.. and the name of Nelson's Mendella's bio if you know..

The likes of Blasphemy and My Feudal Lord..

and the books on Intelligence issues.. I have read only Tariq Isma'eel yet on this topic.. but I am very interested on reading more over this..

And if you can also locate me a good bookstore in Karachi, where I can get hold of all these..

Thanks

Waleeja

You can order books online from libertybooks.com (it's a really good Pakistani site) or you can go to their huge book shops, the main one is in Karachi, I think by the name of Liberty Books, and I think they own Variety Books at Liberty Market in Lahore.

I recommend "A Case of Exploding Mangoes" by Mohammed Hanif to everyone, it's really an amazing book by a new Pakistani author. He's going to be at a conference my dad is organizing so I'm hoping to get my copy signed, because I was really (to my surprise) glued to this book from start to finish. Everyone I know who's read this has loved it.

It's fiction, but it's based on a lot of historical events in our nation's history as well as a lot of speculation and conspiracy theories, all kind of weaved together into a really entertaining, funny story.
