The Lost Symbol is definitely readable. actually more than it. but still a let down.
and the whole 'The Word' thing is a bit too much hyped. like the actual 'secret' was so...bahh!
yeah, Emma is just so...spunky for her era! very cute!

Right now I am reading The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo, InkHeart and ITIL Practitioner Support and Restore All In One for varying reasons

i just finished The Mortal Instruments trilogy. its entertaining but definitely not in my top 5. it sort of veers into incestuous territory when all of a sudden the two main characters who happen to be really attracted to each other, turn out to have the same parents (ew). of course theres resolution in the end, but still. ew.
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater is amazing. its excellently written and i can't wait for the sequel next summer.
has anyone read the Wicked trilogy? or Hush Hush, which is new and good- you can read the first 84 pages at simonandschuster.com
Lips Touch Three Times is excellent also despite the title lol. Its like modern day Grimm's fairy tales and very well written.
i also love Holly Black! Tithe was super good and I need to pick up the other two.
oh! and also, fans of Jane Austen, have y'all read P & P & Zombies?? HILARIOUS! i loved it!
i'm struggling through S & S & Sea Monster though- its ludicrous in a bad way. there are some genuinely funny moments but its a really tough read, overall.
|
i wanted some YA listing, and thanks you for that now!

"The 5 people you meet in heaven" is a light yet powerful read... I loved every page of it.
It's the story of an old man that leads quite an "uninteresting/unexciting/unfulfilling" life who ends up dying (at his workplace - an amusement park) while trying to save a little child. When he passes on he finds himself in heave, wherein he meets 5 people who had sort of impacted his life in one way or another.
The story takes shape as he meets each of these five people and learns how each one had made a difference in his life.
A good read, and a definite recommendation.

I read this book which was so well written and amazingly funny. I mean not just me but a few of my friends found it funny too. Its called Ishq and Mushq by Priya Basil. You will not go wrong with it. Here is a bit about it.

The title of the book means love and smell and this beautifully written novel is full of both! The story follows the lives of a Sikh couple from India in 1947 through to the present in England. It is a big, absorbing family saga full of fascinating characters, incident and a quiet humour. The accurate observance of the mundane and the interesting insights in the Sikh culture, wrapped round a tale of everyday life, is masterfully done. A very fine book indeed. Highly recommended

Synopsis
When Sarna Singh leaves the lustrous green hills of Uganda for England, rows of cramped old houses were not what she was expecting. Husband Karam has brought her to Clapham Common, hoping that the greenery will remind her of Kampala. But Sarna is convinced they have moved to England so he can visit his secret London lady friends. She has a devastating secret of her own. How long before Sarna’s web of deceit destroys her own family?
Against a backdrop that spans Partition from India, Elizabeth II’s Coronation and Churchill’s funeral, to the present day, Priya Basil’s explosive family drama is passionate and moving.

Dear Jane Austen .... any Jane Austen fan will enjoy this.
It's set up like a "dear abby" type of book where she is receiving all of these letters from the 21st century and gives advice from her century. All "Life 1" type of problems. It's a great read!
Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom.
