Just read within the past two weeks:
The Appeal by John Grisham
Playing for Pizza by Grisham
(both were a waste of time)
Three cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and Relin (Excellent, excellent book).
The kite runner by Khalid Hosseni (i think i am probably the last person to read it on GS) but awesome book.
Next on the list is a Thousand Splendid Sons by Hosseni as well InshaAllah.
I love children and old people. Its everyone in between I can't stand - Don Imus

"Chronicles of a death foretold" By Gabriel Marquez - excellent latino atmosphere and I love his incorporation of Magic Realism....it's about an honour killing by the way...

Currently reading "Dress your family in corduroy and denim" by David Sedaris.
I am almost done, and do highly recommend it.

LOVED IT. There are a few books i have; which i love to keep with me since i believe they did play a role in shaping my life somehow. Alchemist is one of them. Such a precise lovely thought. I still regret being so late in reading it.

At Peril: Stories of Injustice (Paperback)
by Thomas J. Cottle (Author)
a case studies' kind of book written by a unievrsity professor who is a sociologist and a clinical psychologist.
the book described stories of lives of people in crisis and how they survive, thrive in or cope with their life situations amidst all that can go wrong. the book has lessons from self reliance, to positively using one's support system & also brings home humilty.
best,
Dushwari

well then i'm glad you LOVED it!! i think its so amazing how his words speak to everyone, not just to the story characters. and once you're done and the book is back on the shelf, some words sort of stay with you...like they've left an impact on you i lovve that feeling!
tell us about some more books that have 'shaped your life'...i want to see how many of them i've read, and what sorta books they are.

Then lets start a separate thread on the book and share what we liked most and what moved us most about the book; so that those who havent got to read the book as yet, may have a gist of what actually has made us and many others the fond and fan of the book

that's a good idea! go for it! i dont think i can contribute much off the top of my head. i read 'the alchemist' about 4 years ago...i'll have to go digging in my journals to see what parts of it 'moved' me, and 'shaped' me i just remember that after i finished reading it, i sat there and sorta hugged the book because to my young mind, it had done wonders of intellect!
