Hate to break this you guys, but losing a mother tongue over a few generations or less for any group that has migrated to an area where another language is the lingua franca is VERY common. My grandparents were born in India and spoke farsi and urdu at home and knew quranic arabic at school. Quranic arabic was retained by their children along with urdu and sindhi of course, but farsi was lost except for poems. As their child, I only speak urdu and enligsh. My siblings who have children and live overseas only barely understand urdu, some not at all, and none of them speak urdu. So for my family's next generation urdu is a dead language. From knowning farsi, urdu, sindhi, arabic, now all that is left is english.

That is the way things evolve, no use crying over it. Some of my late relatives originating from rohail khund still spoke yusufzai pushtu but that is long long lost now.

The question now goes towards solution , that it happens with other languages too, when you are telling your experience.

Our Department Chairman In karachi once made joke of one of our Class fellow who was Pushtoon.

The Student was offended , then the Chairman told his own story , that he himself is Yousaf Zai Pushton , but not able to Speak or Understand Pushto.

No one is crying , but , a question still arises should we cry for it or not ?

I would so no, at least in my case of Urdu or Farsi. English is the new medium of communication. If anything, I would want my children to learn English, French and then maybe Chinese considering the future of business.

Any race that refuses to learn the language of business in their region or in the world is doomed to be left behind.

As a second language one can learn more languages and Should learn (Especially those you have hinted to), If one can , But , I think " Adha Batair Adha Thetar " is never appriciated.

Business is MATTERIALISM and Some Matterialistic Approach , and Spirituallity/Culture and its Tast is different thing.

Actually the World itself is Beautiful due to Differnce and VARIATION , which needs maintenance.

China is a very good Example in World in regards of Language/culture preservation importance.
How much conscious they are for , even the president will speak in Chiness and Not in English(almost every one know it).
