Shocked

When Hazrat Adam(Alihey Salam) was sent to Earth from Janath , He and his Spouse(Hawa)(Aliha Salam) , were speaking the Same language (Regardless of Language what ever they were speaking ) , their children spoke the same language and so on.

Then after thousands of Years Tofan-e-Nokh came and only those people survived who were accompanying to Nokh(Alihey Salam) and all the people were saying the same langue.

Time passed , the population of the world increased and and Today we have THOUSANDS of Languages.

The Languages today have many many words different with each others , for example for Water following words are used in different languages.

1. Oba (Pushto)
2. Panee (Urdu)
3. Aavo (Persian)
4. Tubig (Philphino)
5. Mia (Arabic)

Although water is ONE of the main NEED for Humainbeing life but Every language have differenet word for it.

This question always clicks me that how that many languages come into being?

Please listen to this. Pretty well versed account of the theory behind the Tower of Babel.

Not to mention it is a part of our belief system also. Most of it anyway.

From Wiki:
Qur'an and Islamic traditions

Though not mentioned by name, the Qur'an has a story with similarities to the Biblical story of the Tower of Babel, though set in the Egypt of Moses. In Suras 28:38 and 40:36-37, Pharaoh asks Haman to build him a clay tower so that he can mount up to heaven and confront the God of Moses.

Another story in Sura 2:102 mentions the name of Babil, but tells of when two angels taught the people of Babylon the tricks of magic and warned them that magic is a sin and that their teaching them magic is a test of faith. A tale about Babil appears more fully in the writings of Yaqut (i, 448 f.) and the Lisan el-'Arab (xiii. 72), but without the tower: mankind were swept together by winds into the plain that was afterwards called "Babil", where they were assigned their separate languages by Allah, and were then scattered again in the same way.

In the History of the Prophets and Kings by the 9th century Muslim historian al-Tabari, a fuller version is given: Nimrod has the tower built in Babil, Allah destroys it, and the language of mankind, formerly Syriac, is then confused into 72 languages. Another Muslim historian of the 13th century, Abu al-Fida relates the same story, adding that the patriarch Eber (an ancestor of Abraham) was allowed to keep the original tongue, Hebrew in this case, because he would not partake in the building.

From Quran:
028 - AL-QASAS (THE STORY, STORIES)
28:38

Waqala firAAawnu ya ayyuha almalao ma AAalimtu lakum min ilahin ghayree faawqid lee ya hamanu AAala altteeni faijAAal lee sarhan laAAallee attaliAAu ila ilahi moosa wainnee laathunnuhu mina alkathibeena

YUSUFALI: Pharaoh said: "O Chiefs! no god do I know for you but myself: therefore, O Haman! light me a (kiln to bake bricks) out of clay, and build me a lofty palace, that I may mount up to the god of Moses: but as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!"

040 - AL-GHAFIR, AL-MU'MIN (THE FORGIVER (GOD))
40:36-37
:36
Waqala firAAawnu ya hamanu ibni lee sarhan laAAallee ablughu alasbaba
YUSUFALI: Pharaoh said: "O Haman! Build me a lofty palace, that I may attain the ways and means-

:37
Asbaba alssamawati faattaliAAa ila ilahi moosa wainnee laathunnuhu kathiban wakathalika zuyyina lifirAAawna sooo AAamalihi wasudda AAani alssabeeli wama kaydu firAAawna illa fee tababin
YUSUFALI: "The ways and means of (reaching) the heavens, and that I may mount up to the god of Moses: But as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!" Thus was made alluring, in Pharaoh's eyes, the evil of his deeds, and he was hindered from the Path; and the plot of Pharaoh led to nothing but perdition (for him).

002 - Surah Albaqara (The Cow)

002.102
WaittabaAAoo ma tatloo alshshayateenu AAala mulki sulaymana wama kafara sulaymanu walakinna alshshayateena kafaroo yuAAallimoona alnnasa alssihra wama onzila AAala almalakayni bibabila haroota wamaroota wama yuAAallimani min ahadin hatta yaqoola innama nahnu fitnatun fala takfur fayataAAallamoona minhuma ma yufarriqoona bihi bayna almari wazawjihi wama hum bidarreena bihi min ahadin illa biithni Allahi wayataAAallamoona ma yadurruhum wala yanfaAAuhum walaqad AAalimoo lamani ishtarahu ma lahu fee alakhirati min khalaqin walabisa ma sharaw bihi anfusahum law kanoo yaAAlamoona

YUSUFALI: They followed what the evil ones gave out (falsely) against the power of Solomon: the blasphemers Were, not Solomon, but the evil ones, teaching men Magic, and such things as came down at babylon to the angels Harut and Marut. But neither of these taught anyone (Such things) without saying: "We are only for trial; so do not blaspheme." They learned from them the means to sow discord between man and wife. But they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's permission. And they learned what harmed them, not what profited them. And they knew that the buyers of (magic) would have no share in the happiness of the Hereafter. And vile was the price for which they did sell their souls, if they but knew!

Is is estimated that mankind originated from Africa. So as humankind moved around, they become isolated from each other and they adjusted to their surroundings. So then for example, folks in europe didn;t have to to deal with harsh sunlight so dark skin was not needed. So just like that, human races were formed.

This is a very interesting question. Why did one group of languages develop where tones are meaningful sounds (phonemes), such as in Chinese and Thai, for instance, but other languages developed right nextdoor (Korean, Japanese, Khmer), in which tones are not meaningful? Why are the aspirated consonant sounds in South Asian languages (pir & phir, for example) considered distinguishing sounds, whereas they are not considered different sounds in European languages? Why does English, for example, distinguish between /v/ sound and /w/, but Urdu and other Indian languages do not, even though they are all of the Indo-European language family? Why do some languages use the word order subject-object-verb (Urdu) but others use subject-verb-object (English), and others use markers at the end of the word to give those meanings (German) and others have no particular word order or markers (Chinese, I think...)?

For me, myths such as the Tower of Babel don't explain it.

Again... for those who ask for scientific proof of everything lose touch with the realities that are glaringly obvious.

Tower of babel is as much a myth to me as a spherical earth was a few hundred years ago to people who denied the scriptures and asked for proof of for everything just to be playing devil's advocate.

haha, thanks for the good laugh. People who are thinking logically and asking for scientific proof ARE the ones losing touch with reality? It's the other way around, my friend.

fayax, my laughter was based on your assertion that folks who ask for proof before trying to believe in something are the ones who losing grip with reality! This couldn't be farther from the trurth!

Sorry, if you were personally offended by my grin but I couldn't help it. I'll be more cautious going forward.

Not offended at all.
Dissapointed maybe - that at the end of each discussion you tend to laugh and bring something not very relevant into the mix.
I need a bit more to keep me interested in a discussion than a "HAHA" and 'unicorn'.

Right, you said that you continue to believe in myths untill thye are proven by science. So hence; my reference to unicorns.

Also; please do see the documentary that I just posted a link to. Might help widen your view point just a lil bit.

Interesting documentary....have downloaded it and will watch it later.

A point to keep in mind is that science may be able to explain how humans or even events went from '1' to '2' or '2' to '3'..and so on....but science usually fails to explain the jump from '0' to '1'. Did that make sense ?

My view point is much wider than yours. I am not limited to things that science can proove OR by the proofs that science can give me. Think again.

Right, I don't think the above documentary goes into how man came into being ( 0 to 1 as you saying). It starts from humans already in Africa and their migration patterns.

What I meant was that your view point is very rigid. And it should be if one claims to be religious. An example is this tower of babel, which I believe is indirectly cited in Quran. As such you're not open to any other reasona s to why languages/races might have developed. You'll hold on to your Tower of Babel explanation.

And by you saying that you're "not limited to things that science can proove OR by the proofs that science can give me" means that you will believe in myths, folklore etc. Therefore; I don't even know I can argue intelligently with you on anything, since you're going to brush aside any arguments considering you don't need any rational/logical basis for it.
